Nah, I'll stick with the revolution guy. I'd rather think SUPER BIG. That's how we got to the moon. That's how we did everything worth doing.
I wonder if she goes into schools and says, "now, kids, be sure to dream small".

(10,272 posts)There are some bad things that come with that.
There are a lot of good things.
One of them seems to be that if we don't have a kind of national idea of frontier or challenge to conquer, we get very bored, very quickly and then we do self-destructive things.
When we DO have that frontier, nobody can touch us. No culture on earth seems to perform better under pressure of 'this new Thing/Place/Technology/Whatever will kill us if we screw up playing with it, so we had better get our shit together and put some money into some smart peoples' hands and make sure we don't die out here' than Americans.
It's why I'm not worried about China sending someone to bring us our flag back from the moon. It's not in them, it's not who they are culturally (it's still to dangerous, even 50 years later).
When we DONT think big like you suggest, we get bored and do dumb things like invade Iraq. We should have spent that trillion dollars on a Mars Mission. If for no other reason, the Return on Investment would have been better.

The Univisión debate proved that, in a fair fight (when one side doesn't have some or all of the questions in advance), Sanders acquits himself just fine.
