After big upset in Michigan, supporters gave $5 million in small donations and enormous crowds cheered for Sanders in Florida
Two days after Bernie Sanders won Michigan's primary in a huge upset, the senator was greeted by tens of thousands of Floridians in rallies across the state on Thursday, demonstrating the enormous grassroots support that is challenging Hillary Clinton in states her campaign once considered guaranteed victories.
"We just pulled off a major upset in Michigan the other night, and on Tuesday we have five states coming up, including Florida," Sanders said in Gainesville, according to the New York Times. "If you guys come out to vote, we are going to pull off another upset."
"I know people keep telling us that we shouldnt expect too much, but I feel really, really good," a Sanders supporter told the New York Times about the senator's chances in Florida. "I think he has excellent momentum considering I had no idea who Bernie Sanders was last year."
Tens of thousands attended the rallies in Tampa, Gainesville, and Kissimmee.

(2,603 posts)I really think Bernie was too late in FL. He needed to be fighting here in Jan to get voters to change their registration.
However, we're still fighting to at least keep it close.

However, FL is not MI and many that may want to vote Bernie on Tuesday will find they can't.

(12,233 posts)Me because often I'm volunteering for a campaign, him because he's lazy. Neither one of us have received our mail in ballots. I'm going to have to go and vote in person, and hopefully get my husband out to the polls with me on Tuesday. This is in FL, Tampa Bay area. Anyone hear of other Democratic voters not receiving their mail-in ballots?
