2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumWow, Sanders 40% NC, 32% FL and 41% OH...Way better than I expected!
And Missouri he's winning at 51%!!!
Polls had him losing them all, and losing the ones he did at so much less!!
And now all of Bernie's states are coming up!
My state, WA is going to party hardy on Mar 26th for Sanders.
Go Bernie!!!

(1,820 posts)That close is not Winning. CNN is loving calling who the winner is - but the truth is that he can get some delegates even if he does not win.

(1,384 posts)Look at 538. He is exactly at the polling averages for those states. If anything, this is a victory for the polls and shows the Michigan result was a fluke.

(1,384 posts)NC 56.6-34.6
FL 60.2-31.0
IL 46.4-39.4
MO 45.6-45.0
OH 51.0-40.9
I mean, tbh, Hillary actually over performed some of these targets.

(85,998 posts)..and that's what the Sanders camp has feared. After tonight, they should be telling him this is all but over.

(12,471 posts)All of the Deep South has voted. All of the states where Clinton is strong have voted.
This is it for her.
Bernie can still win.
No surrender, no defeat.

(7,480 posts)The margins he needs to win buy in the remainder of the states are VERY improbable.

That's not including the superdelegates.
No way is that even realistic.

(12,471 posts)NO SURRENDER, NO DEFEAT!
Bernie is in this until the convention. Count on it!
You may not think that it is realistic, but I believe it CAN be done.
This is a very weird and complicated process. ANYTHING can happen between now and the convention.

(1,890 posts)I really didn't expect 32% in Florida. A lot of the Florida vote was early voting. I thought he would be a lot lower.

(53,035 posts)Especially in Ohio. I figured after Michigan Bernie had a real shot there. I was wrong.

Some Clinton supporters crossed over to vote against Trump. I made calls to Missouri where people told me they intended to do that, although they wanted Hillary to be president. I know some of that happened in MN as well, probably lots of places.
Stand and Fight
(7,480 posts)4lbs
(6,858 posts)Florida - 246 delegates, Clinton 65 - Sanders 33 -> Clinton gets 160, Sanders 82
North Carolina - 121 delegates, Clinton 55 - Sanders 40 -> Clinton gets 67, Sanders 49
Ohio - 160 delegates, Clinton 57 - Sanders 42 -> Clinton gets 92, Sanders 68
Illinois - 182 delegates. Clinton is currently leading 52 to 47 and may win it as the MSNBC reporting on the remaining counties and votes favor Clinton for the most part.
Missouri - 84 delegates. Sanders leading 51 to 48.
Even if Bernie Sanders wins Illinois and Missouri, it will be only by a few points or so, thus the delegates will be nearly split.
Worst case, Hillary extends her lead even further with 3 big states won. 319 vs 199 so far. 120 more delegates for Clinton than Sanders. Her lead will be about 340 delegates, without the superdelegates. That's the worst case.
Better case, Hillary has a good shot at winning Illinois. If the 52 - 47 split holds, it will be 95 delegates for Clinton versus 86 for Sanders. Another 9 delegates, and possibly that last one. Then the lead will be around 350 delegates.
Best case, she wins Illinois and Missouri, and will extend the lead even further.

(34,111 posts)but I had let myself think it would be better than this. I should stop doing that.
I am still simply happy as can be to have been able to vote for Bernie. Whatever happens I finally had a vote in my state count. Finally I hope to have a Democrat I can actually vote for rather than holding my nose to cast the vote. It has been since Carter I think...yes unless I wrote in it has been since Carter.

(12,471 posts)to WHATEVER powers that be. Perhaps they had some influence in the days of FDR, but other than that we on the Left have always been the devil's advocates of the Party for the most part.
That's why I don't feel like I should be required to vote for Clinton. I am a member of the Party, but I vote my conscience. That vote will NEVER go to the RepubliCONs, ever.

(12,471 posts)You cannot voice intent well here with text. It was meant more as a "call to arms." The hugs can come after the fight, because the fight is not yet over!
