Renew Deal

Bernie Sanders should do the right thing for the party he loves and drop out.

Sanders has to win something like 75% of the remaining delegates including super-delegates to win the nomination. And every time he wins by less than 75% he falls further behind.

Also, Trump is already running anti-Hillary ads. Hillary needs to be able to focus on the real enemy. Bernie should do the right thing for the party he so passionately loves and end his campaign. If something goes wrong later in the process, Bernie can jump back in.

Is a candidate who barely won Michigan and lost Ohio, Illinois and Missouri going to do well in Wisconsin?

Is a candidate who relies on Independent voters going to do well in closed Primary States like New York, New Jersey and Pennsylvania?

The party is the career of most of these super delegates. Why would they switch to a guy who has criticized their party for many years, admitted that the only reason he's running as a Dem is for personal gain, and who now has the unmitigated gall to run to be the head of their party?

Huh?

Winning a brokered convention. No one who is not a pledged delegate for them votes for them after the first ballot.

Particularly with Sanders there is no point. Voters are not choosing him. The convention will be justified in saying that there was no consensus among Democratic voters for Sanders so they are going to pick someone who can win and who has gravitas, like the sitting Vice President.

It will be harder for the GOP to justify denying Trump the nomination, but they care a lot less about appearing to do the right thing so...

There is never any justification in having an uncontested presidential primary.

And HRC would stand for nothing if all the delegates in Philly were hers.

He has the right to stay until the last vote has been cast. I supported Hillary in 2008. Part of the reason she stayed was due to all the women who wanted the opportunity to vote for a woman in a primary. After all was said and done, she worked very hard to help elect Obama. Therefore, I can't be a hypocrite and ask for Sanders to drop out.

Far too many people on this site seem to have forgotten about all the people who thought Hillary should drop out before the primaries were over in 2008. Her supporters resented it then, and they should be consistent now in in their attitude towards Bernie staying in the race.

I think if he stays in the race to further his message, and avoids attacking Hillary, it will benefit both of them.

Bernie will get to continue the large platform for his issues, and Hillary will be shielded from huge amounts of repub negativity for a little bit longer.
