Karl Rove: GOP 'Doomed' If It Alienates Hispanics

SEARCY - Former Bush White House adviser and Republican strategist Karl Rove said Tuesday night that Hispanics are the natural allies of conservatives and the GOP will be "doomed" if it alienates them.

Speaking at a private university in central Arkansas, Rove said Hispanic voters are a key constituency for Republicans as the party grows and warned against using language that would drive away their support.

"If we do with Latinos what we did with African-Americans, Republicans and conservatives will be doomed," Rove said during a question-and-answer session after his speech at Harding University. "Latinos and Hispanics are by and large the natural allies of conservatives."

Rove served as deputy chief of staff and adviser to former President George W. Bush, who unsuccessfully pushed for comprehensive immigration reform. Rove didn't single out any proposals or figures in the party that he believed were alienating Hispanics. Instead, he singled out U.S. Sen. Marco Rubio of Florida and Texas GOP Senate hopeful Ted Cruz as prominent Latino leaders in the Republican Party.

The Hispanic voter is long-gone, in large part thanks to you.

You're not going to create a new reality on that front, asshole.

But I like "Porkie" better.

I used to know the guy (Austin, TX) and he is just weird as hell. In person, he is creepy.

I believe his creepiness comes from his childhood (Google Karl Rove+father+piercings). He has led a surface life of total hypocrisy. No offense to anyone around here, but Louie Rove is still legendary in Palm Springs.

Rove is a conflicted, fucked-up guy.

We're people you folks look down upon behind closed doors but think you have a common bond with because the older generation still has some conservative leanings(anti-gay, some racist streak, etc)

Do the words "Dream Act" mean anything to him? How about the word "repeal?"

KKKarl has lost what's left of his mind if he believes his own spin on this.

Racism is a staple of the Republican Party. Can't give the base their red meat and also appeal to minority groups. So suck it, Rove. Can't be fixed.

"If we do with Latinos what we did with African-Americans..."

You mean like push polls and election fraud during your tenure as "Bush's Brain"? By more recently expanding on those ideas by running those freaking thinly-veiled racist candidates willing to use coded and dog-whistle-laden language in order to win votes from your ever-shrinking base?

Maybe, in your mind, college students haven't been around long enough to know the history of your shady & immoral political activities. Some of us have been around long enough to know better. One of the fringe benefits of a Democratic victory will be in knowing your sick and selfish desires and plans will have been defeated.

BTW, what the hell kind of institution of higher learning would expose its young people to the ideas of a well-known criminally-minded political operative?
