DNC tax hit draws nearly 2 million

http://www.politico.com/politico44/2012/10/dnc-tax-hit-draws-nearly-million-138833.html
...........SNIP.........Democrats posted a clever jab at Mitt Romney's tax plan on Tuesday, and within 24 hours, they calculated that the web page had drawn nearly 2 million visitors.

The page, romneytaxplan.com, encourages users to "get the details" by clicking on a button. The catch: the button moves everytime a user tries to click it.

The DNC says it has so far drawn 2,000,009 visits from 1,850,340 different visitors. Some 744,000 have "Liked" it on Facebook and 56,100 have tweeted it.

In the world of web and social marketing, the numbers stand out, particularly when one considers that a campaign web video viewed more than 100,000 times is a smash success. Albeit, there was some advertising involved: It is the first advertised link that pops up on Google anytime someone searches for the words "Romney" and "tax." Still, a notable achievement.

Another digital marketing feat: On debate night Tuesday, @BarackObama issued 37 tweets that were retweeted 117,374 times. @MittRomney tweeted only twice and was re-tweeted 6,810 times. Of course, Obama has 21 million followers, compared to Romney's 1.5 million. But those numbers also show the social media gulf between the campaigns.......SNIP.......

And then let you pick from all of the top expenditures and loopholes on the other side so you can try to balance it out, making clear who each of the items impacts.

This is probably the grandest manifestation that I have seen.

The trick is to shrink your window size as small as possible and slow down the button. Get your cursor as close as possible without actually being on the button, and click.

FB, Twitter, e-mail, walls, telephone poles, I even called up a couple of folks and told them!
Good,
I hope it gets 2,000,000 more in the next couple of days!
