Plouffe: Obama campaign circling wagons/NOT TRUE

There is a thread linking to an article intimating the Obama campaign is bailing on FL/NC/VA

WRONG

http://thehill.com/blogs/blog-briefing-room/news/262663-obama-spokeswoman-campaign-absolutely-not-giving-up-on-fla-nc-va

Obama traveling press secretary Jen Psaki said Wednesday that the campaign was "absolutely not" giving up efforts in Florida, North Carolina and Virginia, three battleground states where the president has slipped behind Mitt Romney.

The Obama campaign spokeswoman said the president's ground game in North Carolina was among its best nationwide, and that the campaign expected supporters in crucial swing states to be energized by Obama's performance in Tuesday night's debate.

1. Florida and Virginia are both tossup states in most polls. Why would Obama give up on them?

At most he is 1-2 points down to Romney.

He has another debate like the last one and he has this state sealed, in my opinion.

North Carolina is probably a long shot this year but Florida is probably a tie and Obama may have a very slight advantage in Virgina. He definitely has the money to compete anywhere he wants, so clearly this is all bullshit.

10. If you didn't read the original article

let me summarize for you what Plouffe said and the conclusion drawn:

Plouffe said Obama is significantly ahead in OH, NH, IA, NV.
Plouffe said Obama will win PA, MI and WI.
Plouffe did NOT say Obama is significantly ahead in FL, CO, NC, and VA.

Conclusion: Obama circling the wagons in OH, NH, IA and NV, and has given up on other states.

Pure nonsensical conclusion based on what Plouffe said. It was fabricated out of thin air. Here is the original article:

http://www.nationaljournal.com/politics/what-s-next-in-the-obama-romney-duel-20121017

What also became clear after the dust began to settle from the rumble on Long Island was the electoral map has narrowed and Obama's team, while conceding nothing publicly, is circling the wagons around Ohio, Iowa, New Hampshire, and Nevada. Plouffe said that Obama remains strong in all four states, but he would not discuss the specifics of internal polling or voter-contact analytics, saying only that Obama has "significant leads" in all four places.

It is uncharacteristic of Team Obama to concede any terrain, but Plouffe offered no such assurances about Obama's position in North Carolina, Virginia, or Florida. Romney advisers have seen big gains in all three states and now consider wins likely, although not guaranteed, in all three. They are similarly upbeat about prospects in Colorado but not confident enough to predict victory. That Plouffe left Colorado off his list of states where Obama's leading and can withstand a Romney surge might be telling.

All these battleground states are within the margin of error; there's a limit to polls' accuracy. And besides, the only poll that matters is. on Election Day.
