2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumHey folks! How about we all STF up?
There isn't a Bernista or Clintonite on this site that is open to being convinced that the other person is wrong, wrong, wrong! All this bandwidth is just being wasted. Why not spare everyone else?
Clearly we aren't going to convince Hillary's supporters that she's a lying sac..... Well, you know.
Don't think any HRC supporter is going to come over to the other side, either.
If you feel that stongly about your candidate go out and work for him/her. Spare the rest of us these endless circle jerks of attacks.
Just saying...

(747 posts)WillieT's thread was getting some ugly attention from some AA's here - except me I'm black myself. It's gotten so bad that geek tragedy cried to the Hillary troops to tweet and post his thread on Facebook.

(7,286 posts)Conflict is at the core of human behavior so the flames will fly
Looking thru the threads, I think wiser advice would be to not post under the influence of alcohol.
St Patricks Day ya know. Someone was at the pub early
Aerows
(39,961 posts)with out vivacious discussions about MANY topics.
Hillary Clinton, nor Bernie Sanders caused the great conflict of corn flakes on chicken Don't want to go too deep in it, because that still worries the hell out of me that people cooking fried chicken this way ... but I digress.
Olive Garden. Women breastfeeding in public while flaring up a bong.
DU is not perfect by any means, but there are some fantastic people on this site.
Leeching the joy out of this site so that no one can even make a mild joke is a travesty.

(5,636 posts)The arguments in this forum are mostly sport, something to do to pass the time. The discussions at least better prepare us to make our case to people we know who might be genuinely undecided.
Aerows
(39,961 posts)that you are on a "discussion board".
If you are on one of those weird places, the usual reason is to "discuss".
SoLeftIAmRight
(4,883 posts)many people only care about things that are put in front of them time after time
for far too many the important issues are remote ideas that slide easily from thought and have little impact on thoughts and behavior
great things often take time and persistence
Waiting For Everyman
(9,385 posts)I would expect that if people are in this one, they are not trying to avoid such posts.
But on the other hand, I highly recommend "Trash Thread" for the ones I don't even want to bother with (which is a lot of them).
After many "let's just see" attempts, I know that some posters are never going to post anything that I'm interested in. Bang, in the can. It's amazing how it clears up the view.
