Morning with Misogynist Joe...

Joe Scarborough was really ugly this morning. I didn't see anything posted in this forum about the first half hour of his show, although there are a couple of threads in the General forum:

Romney's given the signal that it's okay to pay women less, and that it's not really a serious issue. I fear we're (all of us, but yes, especially women) are really going to lose ground and that Romney is already creating an environment where it's okay to not to take these issues seriously. God help us.

The respect for women is a thin veneer for many men.

He and his ilk must think milk is cheaper when women buy it, thus they should be paid less.

It's sad that we need to have this fight in the 21st Century. But if it has to be, then so be it. But fight we will.

But I totally agree with you about how the right-wing seems to want to turn back the clock for women, to sometime back in the 1800s. This is serious stuff and I'm scared, too.

How did you like the part where Joe tried to "make it up" to Mika by telling her how valuable she was to the show? Totally trying to appease her in the most condescending way possible? As if his ego would ever let him change the show's name to "Morning Joe and Mika."

He must be a joy to be married to.

Right now with only 3 weeks to go, it seems really small to be focusing on the binder shit or Big Bird.

It comes off as desperate. This is shit you do when you're behind. Obama has been ceding massive ground to Romney in this area and on what the next 4 years are going to look like.

The rebuttal to him this morning wasn't Romney's tack or attitude towards women in general, it's the EMPIRICAL DATA THAT SHOWS WOMEN ALWAYS DO BETTER UNDER DEMOCRATIC PRESIDENTS. Period. This is why Clinton's speech was killer. He explained this.

When you focus on small shit, you miss chances to blow up their arguments using real data they can't come back with. Obama missed his chance in 1st debate to cement Romney as anti-woman and now they're giving him a second look. This is another reason the polls are tightening.

..because I don't want to read your ignorant comments. She was making a larger point - and it does matter. Maybe not to you, and if that's the case why don't you just *move on* and not comment ??? Thank you!

I totally agree, but admit it was fun to poke fun at the "Binder" plunder for a day or so. Clinton always makes sense, because he just is so damned smart.

Should Obama have referenced PBS/arts and humanities funding as a greater whole vs. focusing on a children's character? Perhaps.

The point, and Obama actually made it more direct in debate #2 is that the only things Mitt has been willing to mention in the debates as being on the chopping block in terms of deficit spending is PBS and Planned Parenthood.

PBS counts for less than .01% of goverment spending. Mitt acting like his cutting PBS funding is going to reduce the gov't deficit is like blocking a leak in a dike w/ your finger when water is pouring out of a massive rupture just a few feet away.

by cutting a small and useful thing like public television. That's not petty stuff. Especially if Rmoney doesn't get that women deserve equal pay for equal work and equal consideration for promotion and equality in the household.

This stuff hurts Rmoney badly, because he's thinking in Mormon terms, but Mormons are a small minority. Most people now are not going to sit well with Rmoney pretending he is a feminist hero for looking for women to hire (when he should have just hired those qualified before) and implying that women should have all household responsibilities. It is what those things stand for that are important issues. Rmoney is way out of touch when it comes to this.
