Huffington Post: "Mitt Romney Encouraged Business Owners To Advise Employees How To Vote"

I guess we now know why several employers have recently been threatening to fire employees if President Obama is re-elected.

http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/10/17/mitt-romney-employees-voting_n_1975636.html

In a June conference call hosted by the conservative-leaning National Federation of Independent Businesses, Mitt Romney encouraged business owners to let their employees know which candidate they support and how the election's outcome will affect their business.

During a telephone town hall with small-business owners, first reported by In These Times, Romney said President Barack Obama's policies have hurt employers, criticizing the president on trade, labor, and his signature health care law.

At the end of the call, Romney urged business owners to relay their thoughts on the election to their employees.

"I hope you make it very clear to your employees what you believe is in the best interest of your enterprise and therefore their job and their future in the upcoming elections," Romney said. "And whether you agree with me or you agree with President Obama, or whatever your political view, I hope, I hope you pass those along to your employees."

He continued: "Nothing illegal about you talking to your employees about what you believe is best for the business, because I think that will figure into their election decision, their voting decision, and of course doing that with your family and your kids as well. I particularly think our young kids ... they need to understand that American runs on a strong and vibrant business and we need businesses growing and thriving this country."

Companies have no loyalty to employees these days, so why would they demand loyalty like this from them? Typical. They will be laid off if it is good for the company bottom line, period. Doesn't matter who is President.

If they were so concerned, why not direct them in voting for congress and the senate too?

The only hope that the workers have for fair treatment are unions. Its that simple. When employees understand this very fundamental issue they will be on their to reclaiming job security, pensions and health benefits. But most importantly they will be able regain representatives in congress that actually represent their interest. Representatives that will pass reasonable minimum wage laws, stop awarding companies for out-sourcing, pass stiff tariffs against companies that manufacture in areas of the world in which employees are paid starvation wages, worked like dogs, employ children and are treated like slaves. Yes, its just that simple.

As President Eisenhower remarked, people who don't believe in unions are stupid. If you want to see just how extreme today's Republican Party is, then you only have to read Eisenhower's 1956 State of thE Union address to congress. By the Republican's standards to day, he would be branded as a Communist.
