Mitt Romney kinda did me a favor...

On debate night.

I live in Texas- obviously a VERY Red state. My Dad is an 'oil man' and my Mom is an Evangelical Christian- both have always voted Republican. I just got off the phone with my Mom and we were discussing the latest debate and my Mom has decided to vote for President Obama. Seriously, I almost dropped the phone!

She was disgusted by his poor attitude, his playground bully antics, his total lack of respect for the President and the moderator. She said she could not imagine Mitt Romney as any sort of leader for this country. She said she sat there the entire time wondering how ANYONE, Republican or not, could vote for someone as disrespectful and crass as this man. She said she was blown away with President Obama's classy demeanor and said he is obviously a man of integrity.

So yes, in this instance, I am overjoyed that Mitt Romney really showed his TRUE colors the other night and lifted the veil from my own Mother's eyes.

Thank you Mitt, you schmuck!

I mean no disrespect to anyone in particular, but I think a lot of evangelics have been conditioned / indoctrinated to toss out their moral core and follow the right-wing, cash grabbing word of their "preachers", which results in them voting for the most obnoxious Republicans and their mangled, distorted version of "Christian values".

So...it may have taken some time, but I think your mother's 'conversion' is admirable.

Imagine what it's like for me...I am one of the ONLY Democrats amongst my family, friends, and co-workers (from my hometown anyway- which is a super small, conservative town- now I live in the city). I also happen to be an Athiest and a vegetarian. So needless to say, I catch a lot of grief, but I really don't give a damn.

I am super proud of my Mother for seeing 'the light'.

Most of my family is repuke, I'm an atheist, and I'm a vegetarian! And I recently converted my mother after working on her for about a year. She told me a few weeks ago that she can't stand Mittens and will vote for Obama!
