Romney Has Massive Lead Over Obama in the South (BUT...)

Yesterday's Gallup poll shows Mitt Romney with his largest lead over over President Obama, 51% to 45%. The poll was taken before the second presidential debate. While this looks great for Romney, Markos Moulitsas has taken a more detailed look at the poll internals for Tuesday, which show a somewhat different picture'

Just as I suspected:

Romney's entire advantage in this poll comes from a massive lead in the South. Now sure, some of that may be Florida, but the state-level polling certainly doesn't show that. So Romney is driving up big margins in Texas, Alabama, Oklahoma, Mississippi and other such presidentially irrelevant states? Good for him! I'm sure that'll be cold comfort as he loses the states that actually matter in the Midwest and West.

11:07 AM PT: Latest tracking polls:

Rasmussen (national): Romney +1, was R+2 yesterday
Rasmussen (Swing states): Obama +3 (50-47)
Ipsos/Reuters: Obama +3
YouGov/Economist: Obama +1
IBD/TIPP: Obama +1
RAND: Obama +5

None have included post-debate numbers, because those can't be polled until today.

The United States would be in great shape but The Confederate States Of America would be a third world country. Half of them have third world statistics even with all the tax money from the north supporting them.

And all the progressives would emigrate as soon as they were able.

Question: Are we still going to stand around bah-ing like sheep if Romney wins when we know that the voting machines are hacked?

Seems like that would blow a gasket, but this is the south we are talking about. And a man named Barack Hussein Obama is president.

So Obama went up +1 in the Swing States in Rasmussen today, but down -1 in the National Average?

Maybe Alabama and states like it, but Florida can easily surprise everyone.

But this is a one-party state. Many of the handful of elected white democrats are really repungents who live in high minority populated districts or counties. When they get to DC they turn red all over (I'm looking at you, Bobby Bright).

if he did win it and lost the electoral vote, the certain sense of cosmic justice would wash over me. Let them enjoy the frustration with the electoral vote and see how we felt in 2000 when Bush"won" the electoral vote

Obama is close in NC, VA, FL & even down by only 8 in GA. Other polls such as Reuters have Nit Mitt up by only 8 or so points in the south. I just think that Gallup is flawed.

And he might even go after the electoral college. It would be their last chance to use the felonious five at the USSC anyway, if they do not win.

Bet on it.
