Been lurking for a while but wanted to say thanks for the link. Some of these propositions are mind numbingly opaque. Not saying I will vote down the line on all the propositions as recommended. But I do appreciate the plain English analysis.

I already submitted except that I voted yes on both 30 and 38. Before my friend Ninon explained to me why I should have voted no on 38. >:-<

I HATE ballot propositions.

or is at least better on the spending side and only marginally worse on the revenue side (if at all -- sales taxes are regressive, but they also capture money from out of state visitors, so it's hard to evaluate the revenue features -- which is why I want my elected representative to do this).

But I agree with Governor Brown that Munger is a jerk for putting a second prop on the ballot on the same topic.

(I actually put together an argument for it here a while back just to see how it looked.)

There are two things I hold against Prop. 38:

1.) It creates another big pot of public money that is free for private enterpise to exploit. Whatever problems i have with the political system, or the educations system, and they are many, at least they are accountable to the public at the ballot box.

2.) It locks it in for 12 years. Our legislature will never be able to fix the state if we keep trying to hamstring the legislature. That is not the way. Prop. 30 at least looks well-integrated with other current legislative initiatives designed to devolve power and money down to local control.

But I am definitely leaning to a yes for 30 and after so many shows about innocent people on death row...

I really think it is time to abolish the death penalty. Aren't we the only 'First World' country that kills it's own citizens?
