SurveyUSA: Obama (+10) in MINNESOTA (same as last month); (Klobuchar (D) +28, SENATE)

10/18/2012

In an election for President of the United States, 10/15/12, Barack Obama carries Minnesota's 10 electoral votes, defeating Mitt Romney 50% to 40%, according to a SurveyUSA poll conducted for KSTP.

Obama's 10-point advantage today is identical to his 50% to 40% advantage in a SurveyUSA poll released 5 weeks ago, 09/10/12.

In an election for United States Senator from Minnesota today, incumbent DFL candidate Amy Klobuchar defeats Republican challenger Kurt Bills 58% to 30%. Compared to a SurveyUSA poll 5 weeks ago, Klobuchar is up 3 points, Bills is down 4 points. Klobuchar had led by 21 points, now leads by 28 points.

Support for an amendment to Minnesota's constitution to define marriage as a union of one man and one woman has eroded. The ballot measure is now running effectively even, 47% for "Yes," 46% for "No," and for the first time in SurveyUSA polling, in danger of defeat. 5 weeks ago, Yes led No by 7 points. In earlier SurveyUSA polling, where a summary of the ballot language was used instead of the actual ballot language, Yes had led by as many as 15 points.

Even though it seems like even here there are more right-wing idiots than there used to be. I live in a rural area of Minnesota, and a couple of weeks ago some asshole put a sign up on his property (with an american flag next to it) that says, "Stop Obama, save America." Pathetic. I'd say it isn't much different than living in some southern state within a 10 mile radius of my location. Almost no diversity, mostly a lot of white guys driving around in loud pickup trucks, all with the same outlook on life, the world, etc. Redneck wannabes. (By the way, I live in Bachmann's district. Surprise, surprise. lol.)

10 points in MN
14-15 points in CT
14-15 points according to two polls in WA
3-4 points in Ohio
3-4 points in Nevada
3-points in FL (according to one poll today)
2-3 points in Iowa

It doesn't add up.

But even so its hard to imagine a 7 point lead nationally given all the latest polling from the swing states.

SurveyUSA showed Obama up by 3 points in Ohio, up from 1 point previously because Romney lost 2 points.

Rasmussen's last four polls, including today's release, show Obama up 1 point.

A Michigan poll released today, actually taken Oct 9 - Oct 10, shows Obama up 3 points, but the last poll showed a tie.
