The sad story about this election

Romney has certainly moved up in the national and state polls since the first debate. He's moved up on some more than others and is doing better in many swing states. And if we are to believe in the polls, doing better among women (WTF?).

What's so sad about this is that if the election was based on the real Mitt Romney he would have no chance against President Obama. Obama would be ahead by 6-8 points nationally and he would have many of the swing states wrapped up. The problem is that a super majority of the voters are either COMPLETELY uninformed of the real Mitt Romney and his positions or are fooled by Romney into thinking that he really is a great guy with moderate to left ideas to help the country. To them he is no longer that guy in the 47% secret speech. Obama's team spent months creating a true narrative of Romney and in that first debate Romney (through his lying and flip flops) came across as a regular good guy who could save the country and made a false case that Obama has failed. He also made a false case that he should be re-elected because of his business experience and time as governor of Mass (which we all know was not good in terms of creating jobs). He's a used car salesman and really good at and so many of the uninformed/low information voters are now falling for it. I'm not sure how Obama can turn this around. Please don't bash me as being a troll. My daughter has health insurance because of ObamaCare and so this election is personal to me!

It kills me that a man who stands for NOTHING and is a pathological liar and 24/7 flip flopper on the issues may win the presidency. Based on what Obama has done the past 3-4 years and due to the fact that Romney is a liar and wants to take us back to Bush policies, this election should not be close at all. But Romney is willing to say anything to make himself look better even if it contradicts something he said 10 minutes earlier and more and more people are believing this bullshit. 90% OF THE VOTING PUBLIC IS STUPID. I would not have a problem with it if it did not effect me, my family, my friends and my fellow DUers.

Who said life is fair!

Let's do all we can for the next 2 1/2 weeks to help get President Barak Obama re-elected!!! I'm phone banking tomorrow for Obama.

Romney is the right's ham sandwich. Their hatred for Obama supercedes any misgivings they might have about Romney. And the US IS a polarized nation. There really aren't many undecided voters this time, and they're evenly split. Our downfall will be if our side doesn't turn up at the polls. Dems just aren't as reliable a voting group as Reps. GOTV is key.

it worked for other Presidents in the past. What no one counted on was the ingrained, irrational hatred of President Obama. The more successful he is, and the more he does for ordinary Americans, the more people (white people) seem to hate him.

they refuse to believe the facts, they refuse to believe that Obama has done any good for the country. If a white president killed Osama Bin Laden, would there by any questions as to whether or not he would be re-elected? They only believe that Obama has failed over the past 4 years, completely ignoring the facts, the GOP obstruction, et...REALLY FUCKING SAD!

That is so, so crucial to me.

As I've said months, much will depend on the final jobs' report. That will, I think, probably swing it either way.

With that aside, one outcome I cannot shake from my mind is the United Kingdom's 1992 election.

Labour led pretty much across the board as polling day loomed, yet the seemingly moribund John Major and his unpopular Conservatives won the day; oh sure, Labour made big gains on an overall swing of 2.2%, but the belief was that they would, at the very least, be the largest party in a hung parliament. Not so. People were sick of the Tories, their own support no longer enthused and Labour's chomping at the bit, but enough decided "better the devil you know..." because Labour were still not trusted. Not trusted.

In a two party election (remember, 1992 had the Perot factor), the swing against Obama to a Romney electoral college win would be utterly unprecedented in the modern era.

Soft support and second thoughts.
