(94,679 posts)He pissed of the State Party by not coordinating any of his campaign efforts with them, and hiring family members as staff.
Beowulf
(761 posts)after Spector switched parties. I would imagine when Spector switched parties he was promised party support to run for reelection. A lot of voters thought Spector switched parties because he was being primaried on the GOP side and thought his chances at reelection would be better as a Democrat. But Sestak stayed in the race and won the nomination.
Why Donna Edwards isn't receiving more party support is a stain on the party. Even the Congressional Black Caucus PAC endorsed her white, corporate Democrat opponent. I know the guy she primaried and beat to become a member of the House still sits on the CBC PAC board, so I suppose there's some payback going on. Last I saw Edwards was leading in the polls but has a severe disadvantage in campaign funds.

(94,679 posts)This is an open Senate Primary; DSCC isn't playing favorites. If Edwards can't raise the money she needs (I turned her down; no point investing in a seat that's SAFE D), nobody to blame but herself.

(1,168 posts)They see plenty of downside to endorsing him now while it still looks like Hillary will take the nomination.
They realize they ARE the establishment he's fighting to change, and change is scary.

(68,918 posts)I don't know why people think this is a "DU-based" thing... This massive split in the party reverberates across real-life interactions as well. My brother, who is pro-Hillary because he has an attorney for a wife and two daughters is currently not speaking to my Bernie-supporting dad. Neither participates on DU. Neither is particularly "involved."
It's a break between classes. It's not a clean break as there will always be those who fall to either side, but the majority of wealthy, upper-middle class friends and family support Hillary, while the majority of used-to-be-middle class, skilled and unskilled hourly workers support Bernie.
I'm not here to argue as I will vote for either, but that is clear to me outside of DU.

With the Republican presidential primary devolving into a Jerry Springer episode shot on location at the Thunderdome, its easy to forget the sundry internal dramas playing out among Democrats. While theres an obvious split between the Obama coalition that largely supports Hillary Clinton and the progressiver-than-thou wing that supports Bernie Sanders, there now appears to be a schism-within-a-schism developing between Sanders supporters and progressive saint Senator Elizabeth Warren.
At issue is Warrens failure to endorse Bernie Sanders ahead of Super Tuesday, which supporters feel could have delivered Sanders a victory in the closely-fought Massachusetts primary. RawStorys TBogg collected some Bernie fans reactions from Warrens Facebook page:
<...>
Sen Warren let all of the progressives down and the country by not endorsing us before Super Tuesday. With her help, we could have and should have won Mass. Why and what does she have up her sleeve???
Karl Roves money? Are you smoking crack? I love Elizabeth and would have supported her over Bernie had she chose to run, but I am deeply disappointed in her for not supporting Bernie when it mattered. She will lose ALL credibility if she supports Hillary at any point as Shillary is tied to Wall Street.

(32,727 posts)after decades of working with him on the hill, it's telling. Talk about red flags!
And let's not use the "Clinton's are so powerful" excuse. These are the same folks who turned on Clinton back in 2008 to support a senator with not even one full term under his belt.
Again, this lack of endorsements says a lot. It tells you how effective a Sanders presidency would be.
