ORLANDO, Fla. Mitt Romney, who often grouses that he is simultaneously running against President Obama and the mainstream media, will be greeted upon his arrival in Florida on Friday by a headline with which he cannot quarrel: The Orlando Sentinel is endorsing him.
Four years after The Sentinel, central Floridas largest newspaper, endorsed Barack Obamas candidacy for president, the newspapers editorial page said Mr. Romney is the better choice this time.
We have little confidence that Obama would be more successful managing the economy and the budget in the next four years, the editorial in Fridays edition said. For that reason, though we endorsed him in 2008, we are recommending Romney in this race.
A little more than two weeks before the election, newspaper endorsements are steadily trickling in across the country. Both campaigns have spent considerable time trying to win endorsements, particularly from newspapers in battleground states, like The Sentinel.

the bullshit editorial blames Obama for the tea party downgrade and the GOP's obstruction:
Other presidents have succeeded even with the other party controlling Capitol Hill. Democrat Bill Clinton presided over an economic boom and balanced the budget working with Republicans. Leaders find a way.
With Obama in charge, the federal government came perilously close to a default last year. Now it's lurching toward another crisis with the impending arrival of massive tax hikes and spending cuts on Jan. 1.

and, lest we forget:
"The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president."

(39,382 posts)A top heavy $5 trilion tax cut will be great for "managing the budget."
Newspaper endorsements count for next to nothing in presidential races, IMO.

(924 posts)newspapers do swing back & forth between left-right...
Many are constant like NYTimes (liberal) and Wall Street J (conservative), but ownerships do change for others

(924 posts)Some newspapers attract one type of readers lopsidedly. The editorial board may just have to avoid offending them. Large cities tend to have 2 newspapers each for that purpose.
