Related: About this forumHillary's "small" donors
For what it's worth, I thought this interesting: http://www.fec.gov/fecviewer/CandCmteTransaction.do
Here you'll find a list of all Clinton's donors. The interesting part is where they work and how they divide up their large contributions into very small amounts so that she can say she has millions of small donors as well. Everything about politics is a con.
I didn't check every page out but this from page 9 which was a random check. This state department guy actually made several small donations within days of each other. Why not just one big one?

(11,546 posts)So just knowing the amount of money raised from small donors won't tell you how many people gave.
"A lump-sum unitemized receipt of $100,000 could be 100,000 donors, 5,000 donors, or any number in between your guess is as good as mine," said Kenneth A. Gross, an elections and campaign-finance expert at the law firm Skadden, Arps, Slate, Meagher & Flom.
----------
This means we're left with the federal disclosure data, which produces weaker support for Clinton's statement.
If one defines "the majority of our support" as dollars, then Clinton is wrong small donations accounted for 17 percent of all of her individual donations, which is well short of a majority. In fact, the Campaign Finance Institute calculated that a clear majority of the funds Clinton had raised through Jan. 31 from individuals came from donors giving $2,700 the legal maximum that anyone can give.
On the other hand, the campaign could be right if they define "the majority of our support" as the number of donors. But this calculation isn't transparent to outside analysis.
------------
Our ruling
Clinton said, "Our campaign depends on small donations for the majority of our support."
The campaign's best evidence for this isn't independently verifiable. Otherwise, Clinton is wrong small donors accounted for only 17 percent of the dollar amount her campaign has collected from individuals through Jan. 31, and 19 percent of the dollar amount collected through Feb. 29.
We rate statement Mostly False.

Is this the pettiness that Bernie supporters, facing loss, are headed to?

(2,145 posts)but no one got the message. Seeing the name over and over made a difference. People read fast and I wanted them to understand the point of the post. Anything public that we do can be found by others. That's just how it is.

I think Skinner needs to deal with this before others replicate this horrendous and juvenile behavior.

(99,618 posts)It does point out the math of many small donations in a short amount of time to help Hillary's donation amount look like little people. Clearly this is not the case with this individual. Smoke and mirrors is not corruption. Bernie moved this to the left too, $27 at a time
The DU for Bernie averages $35 per donation BTW.

Garbage.

(2,145 posts)I first tried to leave names but no one read. By adding names, the scamming became obvious. Many have made small donations but how many on Bernie's side deliberately turn them into small packages every few days to deceive the public and give their candidate a false meme? Check out Bernie's. If people have done that, they should be exposed. And Ababa isn't the only one. That's the thing. It appears to be a planned deception.
I've given lots of money to Bernie and all of it has been in larger donations. No attempt on my part to deceive the public. And Ababa is not the only one. When should this sort of deception be outed? it is public information. I'm wondering if your support for Hillary isn't corrupting your ethics as well. Is that what politics has become?
alcibiades_mystery
(36,437 posts)You have absolutely no clue why the person named in the OP donated as he did, yet you imply in a cowardly manner that it is related to his work at the State Department and that he did so in some coordinated way with the campaign.
You have your minor plausibility that you were implying no such thing, but anybody who isn't a dishonest piece of shit can see right through that.
Your post is garbage.

(718 posts)I owe have student loans. I'm a real live person. We're real people who you are talking about. Yes, Sanders has more donors. Lots even and that's something to be proud of. But people also don't feel the need to donate as much when she is winning and doing so well and has other supports, thank god, because I don't have as much free money as many of the better off young college students do.

(1,446 posts)When I first donated to Hillary, I wasn't that big of a supporter, but liked her the best. I also figured she didn't need that much money because there were no real challengers in the primary. Then, as the Bernie people started to get so loud, it encouraged me to donate after every primary, win or lose. I honestly felt guilty disliking Bernie because I found his supports so closed-minded, but it gradually happened. Also, the amount raised after a primary seems to be used as a big talking point, so I tried to help with that.
However, when the generals begin, and we can donate the full $2700 again, I will probably hold off and wait for a fundraiser where I might be able to meet her.
snowy owl
(2,145 posts)Thanks for a reasonable post however. My Bernie donations are usually after primaries as well.
Adding out of curiosity: what evidence do you have that Bernie supporters more closed-minded than Hillary's You didn't change you mind and I haven't changed my mind. What's the difference?
anotherproletariat
(1,446 posts)but just left it because it was a small amount.
As for your other question. I just didn't feel that I was being heard when expressing my feelings about things that Bernie did not talk about (I still don't know his positions on many things, mostly foreign policy). Any slight sign of a disagreement and I was lectured at. On the Hillary forum, people where much more willing to answer questions and try to defend their candidates opinions, while respecting my differing ones. I just had the weird sense that the Bernie movement was kind of cultish...for lack of a better description. I think we all end up with the camp where we feel more comfortable.

(718 posts)Maybe someone else decided to do it every time they saw a post like this. Maybe they decided to break it up because it's a talking point, that doesn't make them a rich evil oligarch. If I had money I would go make a donation right now.
snowy owl
(2,145 posts)that's not the case. You'll have to check for yourself rather than believe me. This persons name was all in one place. Other names are scattered frequently throughout. Keep it in perspective - this isn't one or two people or even twenty.
