http://www.nytimes.com/2012/10/21/opinion/sunday/kirsten-gillibrand-for-us-senate-from-new-york.html?smid=tw-nytopinion&seid=auto&_r=0(snip)
Senator Kirsten Gillibrand, a Democrat, won handily in the 2010 special election to serve out the balance of Hillary Clintons Senate term. Ms. Gillibrand has been a steady voice of reason in Washington, fighting for farmers, battling to retain crucial food stamps. She worked hard to repeal the militarys dont ask, dont tell policy, voted against extending the Bush tax cuts for the wealthy, and has become a strong advocate for womens issues. She was a key sponsor of legislation to end insider trading by members of Congress, and she has spoken out against President Obamas slow withdrawal from Afghanistan.
Wendy Long, the Republican, is a lawyer who has never before run for statewide office. She was a clerk for Justice Clarence Thomas, calling him one of the greatest living judges in America. She opposes same-sex marriage, and has signed an anti-tax pledge that will let the richest taxpayers off the hook from helping to reduce the deficit. She has won the support of Tea Party groups across the state.
We endorse Kirsten Gillibrand for re-election to the Senate.

(297,774 posts)2. GO Kristen!
Wendy Long sounds like a real teabag sludge: "Justice Clarence Thomas, calling him one of the greatest living judges in America"
Like Scott Brown calling Scalia his favorite judge in the debate against, Elizabeth Warren.

(12,471 posts)4. This will be a landslide
for Gillibrand. Wendy Long is a catholic school teacher from NYC, and will garner no voted from upstate where Kirsten is from.
This has been polled as a blow-out all along, and it will probably be the biggest blow-out in a long time!
