UPdate:HRC Talks Gun Violnce after 3/21 Fundraiser w/NRA Lobbyist "Fix Debt" SocSecSlasher

Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton has called her support for gun control laws a key differentiator from her opponent Bernie Sanders, who she claims isn’t tough enough on the industry. But in mid-March, a Clinton campaign fundraiser will be co-hosted by a lobbyist whose clients have included the National Rifle Association (NRA).

As David Sirota reported Monday in the International Business Times, Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta is a co-host and the guest of honor at a fundraising lunch in the nation’s capital on March 21.

One of the other co-hosts is Jeff Forbes of the lobbying firm Forbes-Tate.

Forbes has represented the NRA since 2009 and as of the last quarter of 2015 was still registered to lobby for the organization. On his lobbying disclosure, Forbes wrote that he was signed up to lobby for “Issues related to 2nd Amendment rights, regulation and gun control, and tax and appropriations related to same; issues related to corporate tax reform.” [Update at 4:41 p.m. ET: Jennifer Baker, director of public affairs for the NRA’s Institute for Legislative Action, emails us to say that “Jeff Forbes is no longer an NRA consultant.”]

During the 2013 push for universal background checks, Forbes was one of a phalanx of Democratic Party lobbyists employed by the NRA to kill that legislation.

Forbes is an alumnus of the Bill Clinton administration and later worked as chief of staff to former Montana Democratic Sen. Max Baucus.

David Castagnetti co-founded Mehlman Castagnetti, one of Washington’s top-grossing lobbying firms, lobbying on behalf of Valeant Pharmaceuticals; under investigation by the SEC for drug pricing practices.

Joel Johnson Managing Director with The Glover Park Group which takes credit for the 2012 Campaign to Fix the Debt an effort to slash earned benefit programs such as Social Security and Medicare under the guise of fixing the nation’s “debt problem.”

These guys are the hired guns in DC, pedaling influence on all sides of the street for those who can afford them. Clinton said something about standing up to the NRA & Wall street, was she just kidding?

<Asked at a town hall meeting at New Hampshire's Henniker College how to handle the increasing role of moneyed interests in Washington, Hillary Clinton told supporters that lobbyists should be exposed and publicly called out.

"Maybe use social media? Maybe make a concerted effort to really call these people out all the time, get some social pressure on them, get people to know their names," Clinton suggested, pointing, with obvious relish, to how the New York Daily News has taken to calling the National Rifle Association president Wayne LaPierre "Jihadi Wayne" for his refusal to support blocking individuals on the "no fly list" from getting gun permits.>

And "access" that only big money can buy, great scam, good strategy- she plays one role on the stage, and the real game behind golden doors.

She may be corrupt as hell, but she is smart at the art of both public and private manipulation, she really puts the Pro, in the quid pro quo.

Back to trotting out her team of mothers who have lost children to gun violence. I wonder if they know about this upcoming Hillary fundraiser with that will include the NRA lobbyist?

http://www.theguardian.com/us-news/2016/mar/29/hillary-clinton-gun-control-police-violence-sandra-bland-wisconsin

<In 2008, Clinton ran to the right of Obama on guns, criticizing him for being out of touch with the tens of thousands of Americans who own firearms and use them responsibly. But this time, she has seized on the issue as a point of difference between her and Sanders, who represents a pro-gun state with a strong hunting culture and very low crime.

She has hit Sanders for his support of legislation that in effect shields gun manufacturers from legal liability for “criminal misuse” of the weapons. Sanders has since shifted his position and said he supports a reform measure that would repeal this part of the law.

At the church, Clinton sat between Representative Gwen Moore, a Democrat from Wisconsin; Geneva Reed-Veal, whose daughter, Sandra Bland, was found hanged in a jail cell three days after being pulled over for a minor traffic violation in Houston last July; and Annette Nance-Holt, whose 16-year-old son, Blair Holt, was shot dead in 2007 when a man opened fire on a Chicago bus he was riding.>

What kind of person do you have to be to keep parading these women around the country to use as props for your political campaign?
