fence-sitters & ostriches...and the fearmeme of the 'circular firing squad'...
the basic good/bad thing about DU is that we all have our candidate and we will fight it out, many times down and dirty, enduring endless trolling by who knows who, staking out positions that cross the spectrum of well-thought-out and referenced posts OR maybe merely reactionary juvenile retorts, facts, truths, slanders and libels, lies, distortions, faulty conclusions, agreements, etc...
we have it all...a lot of love and a lot of hate and a lot of angst and a lot of fulfillment...
that's DU...
what I personally can't stand are those, many in the 'liberal' or 'progressive' media/blogosphere/internet radio, etc. who can't stake a position out to endorse, but continually fret about having a 'circular firing squad' that will cause damage to 'the candidate' (whichever that might be) in the upcoming GE...
ostriches get shot in the ass and never know what hit them...fence-sitters are the first to get shot by one or the other sides...
the last thing elections are would be fair or nice or clean...that's a sad truth...but trying to keep the arguments from being fully discussed to 'limit future damage'...limiting comments to 'keep a lid' on the emotions...trying to somehow keep the wide range of emotions, thoughts, arguments channeled into a 'moderate middle' is providing only one thing:
maintaining a status quo in the Democratic Party that has marginalized the Left for the past 30 years...and I'm not even talking about 'Far Left'...
if you are in the middle these day, 'on the fence' so to speak, you have lost sight of that middle you think you are preserving...that middle has moved rightward...
we don't need referees...we don't need babysitters...we don't need voices of moderation, not this election...
it's going to be painful, but the Democratic Party needs to have this fight for its own good...for all the factions involved...
