White House Petition for an AZ Revote (sign it!!) and How I Know Revotes Can Happen

There is a White House petition for an AZ REVOTE. It currently has just over 60,000 signatures - please DU that thing! No matter if you are a democrat, republican, independent, Bernie supporter, Clinton supporter...too many people were shut out. It appears election fraud occurred, but even if it was all random bad luck, there needs to be a do-over. Here's the link:

https://petitions.whitehouse.gov/petition/do-revote-arizona-primary-due-voter-suppression

The meme I have seen on certain websites is that re-elections never happen. I am here to tell you they can, they do and why.

In the mid 1960's, Jimmy Carter ran for the first time in his life for office - the GA state legislature in the district where my family was living. It appeared he would win easily, although he had an opponent - a man known to be a white supremacist. Surprisingly, the other fellow won by an enormous margin. Everyone assumed that ballot stuffing was involved, but such cases are difficult to prove. Carter turned to my father for legal council. They took it court, during which time an unopened ballot box was discovered. They popped it open in court and saw the ballots still rolled up together for the opponent. No one had even bothered to unroll them. The judge ruled for a re-vote, and Carter won with a landslide victory. Can you imagine how history may have been altered if that revote had never happened?

DEMAND A RE-VOTE IN ARIZONA!!!

(This is all documented in Carter's book Turing Point, also on the "American Perspective" documentary on Carter, as well as other sources.)

The President has no authority to order a State to hold a new election, and no candidate has challenged the results of the election. But some people will feel that they've accomplished something by "signing" an online petition, rather than actually having to explain their concerns in their own letter or email.

We need to pound this from every angle. After 100,000 votes, the WH must, at least, respond.

We cannot just accept this this kind of election fraud anymore. Let's be clear, it WILL happen again. Registered voters in NY and CA who support Bernie are already finding their voter registration has been erased or their party switched.

We must keep fighting it.

The White House has received your petition requesting a re-vote of the Arizona Primary.

Please be advised that, under the governing structure of the United States Constitution, the Federal Government, and in particular the President, does not have the authority to intervene in the nominating process of a Political Party, nor to mandate to a State Government that it hold an election over. The Federal Government may enforce the terms of the Voting Rights act and invoke civil and criminal penalties on violators, upon receipt of a complaint that a violation has occurred. No such complaint has been made to date.

None. If you want to do something about the Arizona primary, you'll have to do it in Arizona courts. Petitions like this one are a waste of everyone's time. All they result in is the White House saying it has no authority over state elections.

Surely there is an effort in Arizona you could support in some way.

I'm pointing out that it is a waste of time to petition the White House on issues over which it has no control.

Surely I can point that out any way I choose, right?

to prevent this from happening in the up coming primaries. The caucus states will have more trouble cheating and they are often open to all.

I think we should make sure that NY and CA and the other primaries are open. I know that flies in the face of what exists now but if we can prove that what happened in AZ was done deliberately then the easiest way to prevent it in any other precinct would be open primaries.
