Related: About this forumI知 the Greenpeace Activist Who Asked Hillary Clinton to Pledge to Reject Fossil Fuel Contributions
at the Purchase NY Campaign Rally.
...
I care deeply about tackling climate change and Im deeply concerned about the state of our democracy. I work for Greenpeace USA as a democracy organizer. I do not work for and am in no way affiliated with the Sanders campaign, as Clinton seemed to suggest in her response.
Greenpeace USA, along with 20 other organizations, launched the pledge to #FixDemocracy, asking all presidential candidates to reject future fossil fuel contributions, champion campaign finance reform, and defend the right to vote for all.
...
While we appreciated Hillarys response, the first step a candidate can take to stop fossil fuels is to stop taking fossil fuel money. That money matters when we hear great things about climate in Clintons speeches, but want to be sure shell truly listen to the people when she is in office. For instance, she supports a Department of Justice investigation of ExxonMobil and yet she takes money from an Exxon lobbyist. That level of coziness makes voters like me who care about climate change uncomfortable.
...
To be clear, we are talking about more than just individual contributions from oil and gas employees. According to data compiled by Greenpeaces research department, Secretary Clintons campaign and the Super PAC supporting her have received more than $4.5 million from the fossil fuel industry during the 2016 election cycle. Eleven registered oil and gas industry lobbyists have bundled over 1 million dollars to her campaign.

I wonder if Hillary had been waiting for an opening to "lose her temper" and call Sanders a liar.

Or, pointing out that Greenpeace doesn't have any Super Delegates.

(3,937 posts)5. I doubt it. It just seems to be a trigger for her.
In basic salesmanship, you never yell at the customer, you simply overcome their objections. The simple answer for Clinton was:
(calmly): We don't coordinate with PACs. I will put my environmental record against my opponent's any day. Thanks for your question."

(45,251 posts)6. That would not have imprinted anything in our memories. Her claiming Sanders lies repeatedly
about her does and will even more after media finishes replaying it and replaying it.

(3,937 posts)7. gave this more thought and she may be looking for an opportunity
to fire up what's left of her supporters. Maybe she couldn't wait for an actual lie or an actual Sanders supporter.
