Is this normal procedure for absentee ballots?

About a week ago I called the Supervisor of Elections for my county to ask for their procedure. I don't know who I spoke to but they said that when the ballot comes in, they match up the signatures and if they pass, they are put in a vault and not scanned in until early voting begins.

If they don't pass, they wait to for a group of election judges to view each one and make a determination.

I asked, would I be notified if they don't match up the signature and it gets rejected? And she said no.

I'm wondering if that's a glitch in the system?

What state is that in? Could they at least tell you if they think your ballot passed the signature test?

She alarmed me so much that I decided to walk my ballot in and do an update on my signature.

This lack of uniformity causes confusion and can hide Election frauds.
