Sanders campaign putting away extra chairs ahead of African American Community town hall in MKE 5 mins to start time

A rarity on the campaign trail. A Bernie Sanders event with empty seats. A town hall on racial issues in Milwaukee.

arit john ?@aritbenie 1h1 hour ago
Update: More people showed up...

Tamara Keith @tamarakeithNPR
Pastor introducing @BernieSanders says folks are gathered here in Milwaukee for an intimate discussion of race.

that the size of the crowds for the two (D) candidates are essentially indistinguishable. Its only taken you 6 months.

Congrats. Seriously, strenuous obversation of that sort should be noted & honored. Congrats.

Virtually every other HRC event has enjoyed similar attendance; however, every other Bernie crowd has drawn thousands more.

But seriously, congrats. You've been waiting and hoping to shove this down Bernie's throat for months. Tonight must be satisfying.

Enjoy to the fullest now, before Tuesday comes.

You seem to be criticizing Bernie for those who don't want to show up to listen to his message. Who is at fault here? You seem to say it is Bernies? How can that be real?

1) he called for Obama to be primaried in 2012. Hillary and O'Malley hammered him for it and it stuck.

2) in a 2014 NPR interview he said America had overcome racism.

3) Ever since he announced his candidacy, he's had a singular focus on income inequality and not racial inequality.

Much of Hillary's delegate lead is due to the fact that she's blown him out when it comes to the black vote.

Answer, my husband and I were never called, never had a knock on the door etc by Clinton people. Not even an election day robocall like we always got in NJ.

Now, I know VT is small and she had no chance to win, but how embarrassing that she was not viable getting less than 15 %. How little work would have been needed to move her between 13 and 14 percent to 15 percent.

She wrote off the state.

Not being viable is a pretty big deal. The point though is NO campaign. allocates a lot of resources where they are unlikely to win.

I assume you remember that Dean, in 2004, after losing Iowa and NH, announced he was not competing in the upcoming Super Tuesday contests. He was short on money and resources and, as he said, the states were tough states for a New Englander. They were SC, MO, OK, AZ, NM, ND, and DE. It was a sensible gamble if he believed that the combination of Edwards and Clark would win them. This would have changed the frontrunner to possibly a near three way tie and he then could have won the next wave, especially if it came down to him and the conservative, hawkish Edwards. When they each won only one and fellow New Englander won 5, it was really near over.

If Bernie took the time to meet with them...how can you blame Berne for AA's shunning him?

Hopefully a good crowd showed up after this photo was taken.

What has happened to you "Big Tree?" You used to be one of my favorite posters. You did holiday essays on your childhood experiences and I answered many of those posts because they were so well-written.

Yet, I've been at the point of putting you on ignore for months now. It's almost like you are not the same person who has posted here for years.

I almost expect you to say: "Put me the Hell on Ignore..why should I give a s..t!" And, that's sad because the "BT" I remember would seem to have been very different from the current poster.

Apr 2016

Edited because I do see that there was a ticketed event in Milwaukee at the Northcott Neighborhood House so perhaps this is what this was. The OP Heading is quite correct - this is not typical. But not for the reason the OP wants people to believe. It's not typical - because it's very rare that Sanders has a Ticketed event.

I can understand the Clinton glee that this small audience is supposed to generate - and it is a shame that more people were expected - but since this is a very different kind of event than what Sanders typically holds - I think the glee is a bit silly. As a Ticketed Event - they would have a pretty good idea how many people had tickets.

This was a Q&A Town - some pics from it.

At a activist meeting in bay area CA a latino leader and i got into a conversation about Bernie and race. She said Bernie supporters shouldnt be afraid to go into all neighborhoods and areas because they are concerned about same issues.

I said thats how i feel we are all the same. I hate when people try to divide by stereo typing.

But where did you get that the sample size of AA voters was 72??

According to the poll, they asked 1397 voters, 720 were Democrats but they don't detail how many black folks were in the damn poll. http://www.publicpolicypolling.com/pdf/2015/WisconsinPrimaryPoll33116.pdf

And it's a phone poll too! Remember a few weeks ago when phone polls were so horrible because they showed Clinton winning?
