2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThe Panama Papers and the Democratic Primary...
What effect may a release of this information have on our primary? Do you think there is in chance the Clintons or the Clinton Foundation may be caught up in this? Seems like a lot of world leaders are...

(3,473 posts)Flinging feces against the wall ... hoping something, anything, sticks. Sounds no different than how Republicans have acted towards the Clintons for over 20 years. I expected better of Democrats.

(14,915 posts)That a ton of very high profile politicians are got up on this outside of the United States, right? And that the information on US folks has not been released yet, but will be in the near future.
This isn't tinfoil hat shit, this is really something that is going to make waves.

(14,732 posts)Bernie's disciples are showing with some posts now, hoping hope against hope that something, anything will arise that can be used to deny her the nomination and making speculation based on absolutely nothing but that desire.

(1,235 posts)Would not show up on tax returns, which is why it's called undeclared.
Of course, open secrets has all the info from Bernie's income declarations going back to the early 90's if that's really what you are interested in!
COLGATE4
(14,732 posts)the info provided on Tax returns. Expenses, deductions, purchases inconsistent with the amount of income declared.

(1,235 posts)The IRS has plenty of stages to catch such frauds. Returns are flagged by fancy algorithms for just such discrepancies.
Unless you have a history of Sanders being flagged and found in violation of tax fraud, then what exactly are you expecting to find in his returns that aren't already disclosed in his regular and legally required financial reports as a member of congress?
I think the more immediate concern should be with what the candidate with the 90% chance of being the next president was promising in private to the financial institutions that collapsed the world economy with dishonest and unethical practices ... if Sanders cheated on every single penny of his tax returns it still would not be 1/1,000,000,000th as damaging as the harm that comes from government and the financial industry being too cosy.
COLGATE4
(14,732 posts)seeing his tax records would serve no purpose. The IRS does examine tax returns, some more vigorously than others while having multiple sets of eyes on all the candidates' returns is valuable for democracy. So far Bernie has not provided his. And no amount of deflection changes that fact.

(1,235 posts)I'm more interested in what was said or promised in the speeches that raked in multi-millions of dollars for Hillary from the financial sector.
Aren't you at all curious about that?
SFnomad
(3,473 posts)It's a sad, sick thing when Sanders cheerleaders sink to that level, but it's hardly unexpected.
Joe the Revelator
(14,915 posts)caught up in this mess, it would be the Clintons and/or the foundation.
If you want to talk about it outside of the box of 2016 Primary, then there is some great discussion going on in the GD forum.

And since you can't seem to condemn that type of post, you're part of the problem.

(14,915 posts)You can't. Sorry.

(3,473 posts)I said ...
you saw the post hoping that the Clinton Foundation gets caught up in it, didn't you
If you look at post #3 (the one right before my original post) it states ...
Let's hope the Clinton Foundation is included ... That'll be some fun.
That post is an illness, not conversation. You can apologize at any time ... I won't hold my breath.
SFnomad
(3,473 posts)But I'd be embarrassed too, if I were you ... and I'd wish it would just go away.
Your silence (and implicit condoning of that sick posting) speaks volumes.
Joe the Revelator

(14,732 posts)lobs a missle at the Phillipines the first posting by some of Bernie's disciples will be something like "North Korea agression - is Hillary somehow involved????" It's beyond ridiculous.
