(15,189 posts)Can't help that your candidate is involved in so many scandals. It's not like you didn't know this going in.

(58,785 posts)first serious woman candidate for president by the press, plutocracy, right wing, and left-wing anti-Democrats. The long view of your part in this will be mercifully short in high school texts at least, but hardly flattering. It's not too soon to start wondering how you're going to explain yourselves. "I enjoyed thinking she was a lot dirtier than she was and badmouthing her at every opportunity" might have the virtue of truth going for it, but what are your kids going to make of it?

(58,785 posts)that'll be some comfort as we try to explain all the stupidities of our generations. This is obviously a big transition period. We're all riding change like passengers on an unstoppable express train and some handle uncertainty badly.
Warren DeMontague
(80,708 posts)That said, her entire gestalt screams "STATUS QUO". If she were honestly more of a candidate of "transition", a lot of us would be more enthusiastic. She had to be dragged by the polls to supporting marriage equality. She can't even bring herself to support descheduling marijuana federally, despite a majority of Americans supporting full legalization. Despite that being the only way to reconcile federal and state law, and ensure that the DEA/DOJ can't do things like go into legal states and continue to throw sick people in prison for medical marijuana use.
For the people who feel that "being able to say Madam President" is enough of a transition to make their next 4-8 years, great. But the reality is that beyond that, the only real "change" we are likely to see from a HRC administration is a slightly more hawkish foreign policy.

(80,708 posts)I sincerely hope the worst thing my grandchildren have to worry about is that gramps lavished an insufficient amount of praise on Hillary Rodham Clinton in the Democratic Primary process of the '16 election.
Far more likely they're going to be swimming to work at the canned cockroach stew factory, unless we get our shit together as a Planet.

(80,708 posts)There's basically two different Universes in play, here. One for "YOURE JUST OUT TO GET HER BECUZ SHES A STRONG WOMAAAAAANNNNNNNNNNNN", and then...... there's everybody else.
There is very little point in trying to have a conversation.

(80,708 posts)I've said all along that should such a thing go down, there will be no winners.
Honestly, though, if it's gonna happen I'd rather have it happen before we're stuck with her as the nominee.

Sanders people
: to fight in a violent way against the rule of a leader or government
: to act in a way that shows that you do not accept the control or influence of someone or something
Hilary people
: to cause (someone) to feel disgust or shock
Great word choice gross.

(7,231 posts)she has 70% of the nation to her left.
It's all a vast right-wing conspiracy, because we all know that Saint Hillary the Inevitable is beyond perfection. She was, in fact, born without sin. (Never mind the "superpredators" remarks, opposition to gay marriage, support for fracking, TPP and the rest of the ugly race to the bottom, the praise for Nancy Raegan and the condescension to millennials: we all know that those are really progressive positions that help to get things done.)

(13,390 posts)That strategy really is naseating. Both Clinton's have invited the scandals they have been involved in. They cry victim and people fall for it.

(11,014 posts)Hillary is worse than Gengis Khan, Attila the Hun, Hirohito, Kaiser, Hitler, Mussolini, Pol Pot, Yahya Khan, Usama bin Laden and al-Baghdadi COMBINED.
The problem is that people have known her for >30 years and these criticisms fall flat, questioning the credibility and sanity of the posters.

(2,461 posts)democrats in general? Could it be there are less voices from the Hillary supporters here because most have voted already and their interest in being involved has waned? Are Bernie supporters here younger and more likely to post more often? Other things I've been hearing: Bernie's supporters are more intelligent, hence more outraged at inconsistencies, Hillary supporters are more civil ...
