http://www.commondreams.org/views/2016/04/04/clinton-believes-shes-special-kind-politician-who-cant-be-influenced-moneOf course, all of the above is ludicrous. Donations were made because lobbyists and executives think Clinton will win the general election, and they want to have a stake in whatever agenda she sets if she becomes president.
Eva Resnick-Day, a Greenpeace activist, is one of many activists who recognizes this is how money influences politics in the United States. She asked Clinton if she would reject fossil fuel money in the future. Clinton blew up and accused Resnick-Day of spreading the lies of the Sanders campaign.
As she described on Greenpeaces website after video of her exchange with Clinton went viral, Greenpeace USA, along with 20 other organizations, launched the pledge to #FixDemocracy, asking all presidential candidates to reject future fossil fuel contributions, champion campaign finance reform, and defend the right to vote for all.
The pledge was immediately signed by Sanders. The Clinton campaign responded to the pledge but did not sign it. (None of the Republican candidates take a position that climate change is real so, of course, neither Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, nor John Kasich have signed the pledge.)
Hillary Clinton is personally aware that Greenpeace, 350 Action, and other groups have showed up to debates, rallies, fundraisers, and events, which she has attended. She knows theyve tried to pressure her into signing the pledge. Environmental activists also have asked her questions before, but this timeperhaps because Sanders won five of the last six states in landslide victoriesClinton thought the Sanders campaign had dispatched her to mount an attack.

(5,946 posts)that people can believe they are not being influenced, but the fact is that you are influenced by the people who you are around, even if only for a while. The problem is that money = access and if you are around wall street people a lot (like say a son-in-law) those people would influence you just by osmosis. And if you don't have money, the odds are you won't get access. And there by hangs the tale. I am sure being able to pay 334K to sit next to Clinton and Clooney will mean someone who is not a Clooney fan but wants the ear of Clinton will be sitting there. And this person will say what all rich people say in that particular circle of rich people who have no concept of what living without luxuries is really like
Now I post on a lot of different kinds of boards - hobby, tV, etc. and we get into discussion of politics now and again, and I think the one thing I have not been able to beat into people's heads is that it cost more to be poor than to have money, transportation when you don't have a car, lack of access to fresh food in poor neighborhoods, even borrowing money comes at a higher interest rate. If I can't convince people who are not rich, good luck with breaking through the people who have a lot and don't think twice about hiring people to do some waiting for you.

Yup! I will vote for her if she gets the nod. But thanks to her and her supporters sense of entitlement, it will be the most difficult vote of my life.
The US presidency is not a family position.
