Neither D really "won" the primary election yesterday - its the R's voter suppression tactics that won. If this is not addressed by Nov, we're toast.
D turnout was significantly less than R turnout yesterday. Scott Walker's protégé - the questionable, inexperienced candidate who he and R big money was pushing for - won election for State Supreme court.... and by a substantial margin - 52%-48% Which is a striking difference from the 50-50 virtual ties we're used to seeing here that go one way one time, the other way another time (hence the phrase "swing state."
On the face of it, it looks like Republican voter suppression tactics now in place in this state are in fact WORKING. Havent yet seen any analysis yet re this election, but a recent study estimated that 300,000 liberal-left votes in WI would be suppressed by WI'a new voter ID laws, said to be the most onerous and repressive of all the voter ID laws in the nation.

I dunno, still think this is a good article (as is the case nowadays, one wants to read from ALL sources since ALL sources have bias):

(20,043 posts)That should have been the story. Absolutely disgusting.
While the primaries are exciting and we're all rooting for our 'team' there are hundreds of thousands of people not allowed to participate. This should infuriate everyone, no matter who you support.

(17,796 posts)No 'point' other then this is what things have been allowed to become. We have no choice but to confront the problem head on, 'incremental' changes will not do. No need to apologize if you can't face that reality, we understand. So pardon us while we keep on working. Have a lovely day.

(1,752 posts)registered and in possession of IDS and other arcane assorted documents you now need to vote here in Wi. Primary is now over, here in Wis!
If by "keeping on working" you mean posting vitriolic emails all day on this website - have at it.

(113,091 posts)every level of GOTV, instead of whining about hurt feelings and petty differences that will not matter one bit come November.
Here in NC we are dealing with an utter @sshat who thought leading a college dem group meant rallies and microphones and he never put in the daily, boring legwork needed to assure students understood the new restrictions put in place by GOP run legislature.
About 5% of students were turned away from their polling places.
Then the idiot turns around and blames everyone BUT himself for the result.
PLEASE, DUers, get involved in your state's GOTV efforts. Or adopt a purple state if you are safe blue.

(16,685 posts)Far more votes for Bernie and Hillary combined than for the liberal Supreme Court nominee. What sort of campaign did she run?
And why the hell is the election set up to actually seat an official from a primary election? This election should have been during the general.
