That was uncalled for, and it was rude. Hillary is the most qualified person to be president.
This will hurt him with women voters.

(24,324 posts)You're saying it's ok for Hillary to argue that Sanders is unqualified, but improper for him to do the same in return, because... genitals?
Jesus Christ, I think you just broke the gender card.
runaway hero
(835 posts)The imagery is bad. He's saying a woman is unqualified to be president based on a statement which was not said by her. It will look bad tomorrow.
Marr
(20,317 posts)that Sanders is unqualified.
It makes them look weak and dishonest and worse, whiny.
runaway hero
(835 posts)But the casual women voter can't.

(115,899 posts)And she lies about Bernie almost every time she opens her mouth - just like she lied and dog-whistled about Obama in 2008.
runaway hero
(835 posts)Will women like that? The media will portray him as the bully Bernie picking on a woman.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,899 posts)We women are quite capable of thinking for ourselves, and a whole lot of us don't care for Hillary for a lot of reasons. Will she now act the poor, weak woman being victimized by a bully? She'll lose more women that way.
runaway hero
(835 posts)But in general, it will look bad to the average woman voter. At least that's what I think.
The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,899 posts)Hillary needs to put on her big girl pantsuit and stop acting like she's a delicate flower being picked on by some mean man. She pulled the same shit in 2008. It was obnoxious then and it still is.
runaway hero
(835 posts)Guess I'm just a little shocked.

(3,133 posts)It's awful to me, and that does disqualify her, and since she brought it up it's a great time to DEBATE IT. This IS a contest.
She has been a Senator, Sec of State, etc. She's the most qualified right now.

The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,899 posts)So she's accomplished a lot. BFD. So has Bernie. She started it in the first place by calling him unqualified; evidently part of her new scorched-earth policy. If you say Bernie is being rude and harsh, what about when Hillary does the same damn thing? It's politics. Gotta have a thick skin and be able to take a few hits instead of whining when someone throws your shit back at you.

(115,899 posts)Lawyer in private practice, elected to the Pennsylvania legislature, then to the U.S. House; chairman of the Judiciary Committee, appointed ambassador to Russia; elected to the U.S. Senate and reelected twice; appointed Secretary of State; then ambassador to Britain; finally President of the United States.
The owner of that awesome resume was James Buchanan, generally considered to have been one of the two or three worst presidents.
He was succeeded by a guy who had been a small-town postmaster and surveyor; served four terms in the Illinois legislature and one term in the U.S. House; practiced law for another 12 years, then was elected President.
That was Abraham Lincoln.

(835 posts)I still think he should not have been so harsh.

(2,379 posts)No apology from Bernie necessary. He didn't instigate this "round". His statement and all the backlash she's getting on social media is her own doing.
PS: It hasn't hurt him with me ... an over-50 woman who's been a Democratic voter since age 18. If anything, I'm glad to see him finally calling her out directly on her record. I don't think she's qualified to be President based on her previous track record regarding her judgment.

HassleCat
(6,409 posts)She agreed we should go to war with Iraq, and that turned out to be an important decision. We need a president like Hillary, someone who can go along to get along, someone not afraid to kill people, someone who thinks inside the box.

(6,409 posts)But I am getting tired of the passive-aggressive tactics of the Clinton campaign. Their latest thing is to criticize Sanders, then get all victimized when there is a response. "We never said he was unfit to be president. We only said he didn't think about things and had no plans. How can the Bernie campaign tell such awful, horrible lies about us?" See how well this works against Trump or Cruz. If Clinton wants voters to believe she has been everywhere, done everything, withstood all the criticism, etc. she might want to stop this stuff about, "Oh, help! Help! He's being mean to me. Someone make him stop!"

(2,191 posts)If so, could you possibly speak TO the women voting GOP. They really need your guidance.
ViseGrip
(3,133 posts)Why is it okay for her...but if he gives it back and with REASONS, like Iraq War vote, trade bills, etc. it will hurt him with women? He needs to apologize? Stunning. Hillary started it, and if she can't take that, she should get out. Maybe the pressure of being under investigation is getting to her, and I surely could understand that.
Maybe she shouldn't be running and taking ALL OF US along with her on that ride??????????????? For the good of the country....blah blah...

(8,168 posts)If people don't like it, they'll let him know. Same applies for Hillary.
Most of the time pols parse words to make an argument against a candidate, other times the candidate goes a little overboard - this late in the race we're going to see more of the latter. Who cares. Ballots will determine if people like said "overboard".

(20,453 posts)If candidates are going to be equal (and I know from experience, they are), then they shouldn't have their little minions come to their rescue whenever it is "felt" (e.g., the media announces) that somehow they have insulted each other.
I find this ludicrous and if anyone needs to apologize, it is the political parties themselves for causing the kind of candidates to emerge who use the media. What a fucking circus this is becoming.

Look at 2008. It was nasty then, and Hillary accepted a position in Obama's administration. Everyone will be friendly again soon.

She is a liar and has spouted complete lies about Bernie....again, this is a race for POTUS....her character shines through and her thin skin will make her candidacy a historical failure.

Hillary threw the first "unqualified" stones. That's an indisputable fact on the public record. She declared she would worry about party unity later - after she disqualified Bernie.
Sanders was responding to her attacks.

(6,994 posts)don't ever reference to the fact Hillary is not..
I would say Hillary could start apologizing to Bernie about comments made to the Greenpeace Rep.about her Fossil Fuel Industry contributions..Hillary lied and then tried to say Bernie lied..Yes Hillary could start there..Then Hillary could apologize for being a part of the Welfare reform that caused children to go hungry..And this would be just a start..we could throw in the Iraqi war vote if you'd like....
