Washington Post poll of Maryland (No Suprise) Obama up 60-36

Poll is a week old but they finally released it yesterday. No surprises with Obama and Cardin comfortably ahead. Still happy to see such a big margin in a blue state as we need to build up our popular vote margin as much as possible in blue states to off-set expected Romney margins in deep south states--or so the pollsters would lead us to believe:

5. (AMONG REGISTERED VOTERS) If the presidential election were being held today and the candidates were (Barack Obama and Joe Biden, the Democrats) and (Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, the Republicans), for whom would you vote? Which candidates are you leaning toward, (Barack Obama and Joe Biden, the Democrats) or (Mitt Romney and Paul Ryan, the Republicans)? (ASKED IF ALREADY VOTED) For whom did you vote?

6. (AMONG REGISTERED VOTERS) Now turning to the U.S. Senate election in Maryland, if the 2012 election for the U.S. Senate were being held today, would you vote for (Ben Cardin, the Democrat), (Daniel Bongino, the Republican), Rob Sobhani, the independent candidate or Dean Ahmad, the libertarian candidate? Which one would you lean toward right now?

these numbers hold up. We still need to increase the margins the best way possible to offset Robme's advantage in RED states.

As you say, it's important to run up our margins in the deep blue states. It offsets the asshattery elsewhere in the country.

...this huge margin for Obama certainly does make all the outspoken GOPers in this area much more tolerable.

I just keep telling myself it's a good thing all these Repukes live here in Maryland, because if they lived somewhere else, their vote might actually manage to get someone elected!

We will be devasted if Obama loses VA. We have worked harder this time around than in 2008.

suburb in Northern VA, largely went for Obama in 2008. He just informed me that his neighborhoods and nearly every house has a Romney yard sign in it. Again, mostly every house had an Obama yard sign in 2008. This scares me because it's NoVA, which is heavily Democratic and progressive. We've been canvassing our butts off in VA for weeks. Obama has a ground game like no other. But anecdotal stories like the one my colleague just recounted scares the shit out of me. I won't let it get me down, though. There's too much work to be done.

By the way, my coworker is Hispanic, and apparently the Republicans have been funneling a blatant lie in the Hispanic community: Mitt Romney is half Hispanic. I had to explain to him that Romney is NOT Hispanic. His father was born in Mexico because his grandfather fled to the country so that he could marry more than one woman. This country doesn't recognize polygamy as the Mormon Church did back then. I can't believe that the Republicans are telling this lie. Wait...yes, I can. The Republicans are trying to siphon off Hispanic voters. He won't be able to convince a lot. All they need is a few because VA is very close. The Obama organization has been outstanding! Simply outstanding on Hispanic outreach.
