The White House on Thursday said Hillary Clinton is qualified to serve as president, rebutting comments from her Democratic primary opponent, Bernie Sanders.
The president has said that Secretary Clinton comes into this race with more experience than any other non-vice president in recent campaign history, White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters aboard Air Force One.
Schultz added the president was fortunate enough to have Clinton as his secretary of State for four years, when they worked together on complicated, on complex issues.
The White House came to Clintons defense after Sanders said his rival was unqualified to serve as president.

(30,250 posts)Sanders could have said it extemporaneously. Either way, it didn't go down well within the party.

(135,425 posts)didn't say "quote-unquote" that he was unqualified. It was based on a Scarborough interview where Morning Blowhard tried to GOAD her into saying it--and she refused.
He TRUSTED one of his closest associates to give him the straight scoop, I suspect--and it's really down to three people. Jeff Weaver, who seems to run around with his foot permanently wedged in his mouth, Tad Devine, or Jane.
I'm thinking it's Jeff, because he wasted no time in trying to shift the conversation to "Hillary created ISIS" in what looked like a crazed, Blaze of Glory, dumb-ass, can't-walk-it-back, I'm-an-asshole Hot Mess!
I keep saying this and it's true--Jeff is Karl Rove--without the brain.
And now, Obama has, in essence, weighed in with a "STFU, Bernie" while giving HRC the "qualified" label, AND bringing back to the fore Obama's comments about HRC that he made in Jan:
The president has said that Secretary Clinton comes into this race with more experience than any other non-vice president in recent campaign history, White House spokesman Eric Schultz told reporters aboard Air Force One....Obama has publicly remained neutral in the Democratic presidential primary, wary of tipping the scales and dividing the party ahead of the general election. But Clinton is widely thought to be his preferred candidate.
In a January interview with Politico, he suggested that Clinton best understands what it takes to occupy the Oval Office.
What Hillary presents is a recognition that translating values into governance and delivering the goods is ultimately the job of politics, he said.
She can govern and she can start here, day one, more experienced than any non-vice president has ever been who aspires to this office, he added.
Not a good day for Bernie at all. And he brought it on himself.
Bad, bad staff!!!

(8,224 posts)She has all the experience authorizing war in Iraq that anyone could need.
She has tons of experience making speeches at $225,000 an hour to Wall Street bankers.
She has lots and lots of experience raising massive corporate contributions for a vast network of PACs and SuperPACs as well as privately held charitable orgs.
She worked regime change magic in Libya and Syria....
She has worked in the arms trade as SOS.
She has more experience than anyone at being investigated over and over (and nearly continuously) by the Vast RW conspiracy...
I am just not sure it is the experience we need.

(30,250 posts)Not that there was any doubt as to who he would prefer to succeed him. Of course he won't officially endorse until the convention.
