2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumBishop Sorondo who invited Bernie is "a close friend to Pope Francis"! This says to me the Pope gave
at least tacit agreement to the invitation as I very much doubt Sorondo would not mention it to his friend. Of course this could not be officially acknowledged. I believe Pope Francis gave his tacit agreement as he wants to send a message that Bernie, a man dedicated to helping the helpless has His blessing.
"Monsignor Marcelo Sanchez Sorondo, who is a good friend of the popes, the Associated Press reported."

(10,559 posts)Will you change your position on Bernie regardless? Or are you just trying to throw shade at a great honor you will yourself most likely never achieve?

(55,981 posts)Bill got mad at Black Lives Matter and bingo-bango under the limo. Now it's the Pope. Not to mention her entanglement in the Panama Papers and the FBI asking for an audience.

(10,559 posts)Started by a big win in Wisconsin. Got told Hillary was going to get dirty. Our candidate threw a few elbows back, and now both are going to play nicer. All of us loved his response about how BECAUSE OF HER BAD DECISIONS she is totally unqualified - you guys might have thought it was bad/been hanging out on the fainting couch, but we are all in agreement and revved up because our guy does know how to smack folk around when they need it VERY POLITELY. And every time the media brought it up with "fake scandal" what the non-political junkies heard was "Hillary isn't qualified" - thank you for the home run because "Bernie is a meanie" was definitely an okay message, too. Bonus: Bernie got more air time everywhere because of the "controversy", and got to scold the media for doing exactly what needed to happen - showing how he handled some dirt by not denying why he said it, and then moving on. The week ended with an announcement about Bernie being invited to a major Vatican sponsored conference about his core constituency, and even the little tizzy about that was pretty great. Our side is hyped up and the rally's are overflowing. Two states previously in the Hillary camp (Nevada and Missouri) flipped to Bernie so more delegates for us. Oh, and Bernie has totally erased any Hillary lead in all major polls (his typical "surge" so New York is looking good.
Hopefully we have "more bad weeks" like this one!

Goes out to prove how she's a genuine New Yorker and gets lost underground.
That 3:00 am call at the Whitehouse?
No, Hillary, come sit down over here. You and Bill have done enough, time to rest.

(1,573 posts)...is why Margaret Archer said what she did. I can't figure it out. Her statements, which were pretty much called lies by her superior at the Academy, could likely ruin her career there, and possibly her reputation in her field. So why?

(10,559 posts)CONFERENCES GET HELD. A major presidential candidate is taking time out of his campaign schedule, and will be bringing press who will be reporting on the entire event. This is a fabulous opportunity - why would she snark about it?

I'd fire her if she were my employee.

(1,573 posts)...it doesn't smell right. And last I saw Archer is not returning calls or emails from Bloomberg. If there's been any change to that, I'd like to see it.

(12,704 posts)got wind of this before it hit the papers. I think she said this under pressure to mollify them. Just a theory because it is mind-boggling she spoke without knowing the details.

(1,573 posts)...about Bernie being invited. Another thing I'd like to know is how the Bloomberg story came about at all. A tip to them? A call from Bloomberg to Archer? Or vice versa? Like I said, the whole thing doesn't make sense without putting on a tinfoil hat.

(3,017 posts)The Vatican normally stays out of politics. And this visit by Bernie will come before primaries in states with 5 of the 7 highest ratios of Catholics in the U.S. Coincidence? I think not.
