2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumOpen letter to Pope Francis: Please please please meet with Bernie when he's in Rome next week!
It will warm my heart. I suspect most Bernie supporters will greatly appreciate it, too. But most importantly, it will absolutely, positively drive Camp Hillary up the wall.
Sincerely,
A Catholic Bernie supporter.

(70,270 posts)No need for you pleading if Sanders is telling the truth on National TV
X-POSTED
On The View today-Sanders said he was going to meet with the POPE
One of hosts said to the audience--.....
Host: You're meeting with the POPE?
Bernie: "Yup" (sitting nodding)
Then the host told the audience --Pope Francis has invited Bernie sanders...Clap clap
Sanders said he was meeting with the Pope. Then when the host told the audience he said nothing--He just nodded ...!!(very short You-tube clip
WHOW!
PS--Sanders is NOT meeting with Pope Francis

(8,352 posts)Just curious?
He said yup, and I am willing to be that he, like the other attendees will meet the Pope in public at the conference.
And yeah, if he had spoke down the female host, I am certain the meme would be about sexist Bernie interrupting another woman.
I am going to laugh my ass when he meets the Pope and y'all have to eat a serious plate of crow!

(70,270 posts)be attending a conference. Simple as that.. Now his lie is on National TV

(8,352 posts)I doubt it but thought I would ask. I mean come on the Clintons are the king and queen of misspeak.

(70,270 posts)I mean Bill sorta kinda wanted to apologize for his racist remarks to BLM activists but didn't. Stranger things could happen.

(50,254 posts)There is no issue here and nothing for anyone to be indignant about.
What matters is that the Vatican DID invite him.

(53,041 posts)The Golden Rule, that Bernie said was his key religious view in a previous debate. And now we have "causing distress" as a reason for the Pope to meet with Bernie.

(20,709 posts)This is why Bernie fans don't care that his policy agenda is all based on Madoff accounting. It's not about policy, it's about hatred.

(14,881 posts)one of two things happened. We either:
1. got a glimpse of some internal Vatican politics (note that Archer is a paid academic in the employ of the Vatican, not a member or insider there and that it was her boss, an insider and close aide to the Pope, who actually invited Sanders to the conference), or
2. a reporter/journalist took something said out of context, twisted it, misheard a few words (this was a translatlantic phone interview, easy to not hear it correctly, esp if one party or other was on cell), etc. and made a mountain of a molehill.
Frankly, given the blatant antisemitic dog whistles and snark the journalist reports, I have a hard time believing Archer said any of it.

(9,688 posts)It's really important, for the sake of Pope Francis himself (as well as the integrity of the American electoral process) that he avoid even the implication that the pope favors any particular candidate, Republican or Democrat, in the 2016 US election.
