Bernie Sanders Prevails In Wyoming, Continuing Winning Streak Against Hillary Clinton

By John Wagner April 9 at 4:42 PM

NEW YORK — Democratic hopeful Bernie Sanders won the Wyoming caucuses on Saturday, continuing a winning streak against front-runner Hillary Clinton as the two head for a key showdown next week in New York.

The Associated Press called the race for the senator from Vermont, who has now defeated Clinton in the past seven of eight states that have held nominating contests.

During a rally in Queens, Sanders announced from the stage that he had just won Wyoming, prompting an extended standing ovation.

Sanders has generally performed better than Clinton in caucus states, and the electorate in Wyoming mirrored that of some other Western states where Sanders has done well: It is largely rural and white. Unlike in some other states where Sanders has prevailed, the Wyoming contests was closed to independent voters, who tend to break in Sanders's direction.

I am talking about supporters from your side who have taken a 56-43 defeat and run to this site to try to win a war of 1 delegate.

That's who.

There are a few bones to the masses in her campaign rhetoric, but mostly it's Republican lite, both on foreign and domestic issues. More so in the governing than in the campaigning, of course.

We support Sanders because he stands up for what we've been told Democrats stand for, yet you hit him for not being a lifelong Democrat. You're focused on labels instead of policies. At least that's how it looks from here.

at the caucus. If it works in WY like it did in WA, you can use a surrogate ballot if, on the day of the caucus, you are sick or disabled, or have a religious observance, work or military service. There is really no one who checks that one of those conditions actually exists for each person who submits a surrogate ballot.

The whole caucus process is so undemocratic anyway, that, to me, it would feel slimy to verify those conditions while ignoring the fact that poor people without vehicles, or gas money, or bus access, or babysitters etc, often can't participate in caucuses because the venues are too far away. There is no surrogate ballot with a low-income provision for them.

Clinton's demographics are elderly people. They are often sick or disabled, so the overwhelming majority of those surrogate ballots will naturally be ones from Clinton supporters. That said, it seems like that in proportion to the pool of caucus attendees there were a LOT of surrogate ballots.

He's still 200+ delegates down and the next batch of states are very favorable to Hillary.
