There is a crisis in US Elections, and political system

And we are part of the problem.

Popegate, as some of you have cutely called this is a damn perfect example of it. Yes a Jewish American political leader was invited to the Vatican for an academic convention. The reaction in most normal countries, the US is not... would be WHAT AN HONOR... represent us well. What is the subject? Might want to look into it. Alas we are not a normal country.

The reaction relayed a good dose of anti intellectualism, inability to deal with issues more complicated than a cat up a tree, or quite frankly some disgusting anti-Semitism and anti catholic smears. That does not put the other side above the scrutiny. Yes, Sanders did respond in kind to the attacks from the HRC campaign... I cannot blame him for that, BUT, the response in both the media and here was a he said she said. And popegate was also an attempt to remove some speech from the headlines, effectively mind you.

Abroad people worry about Trump. Yes, they worry what that represents to the world. But quite brutally honest, the pattern that has developed is quite the inability by many of you to understand what is driving both the Trump and Sanders candidacies.

Yes... people are tired of the status quo, they are tried of working endless hours and not making it, they are tired of their jobs going away (which gets some predictable responses from some posters here that are not just ignorant but down right stupid).

We have major issues right now facing the future of the American people (and the world)

They are as follows and in no particular order:

Climate Change
Income Inequality
Government Corruption
Bad schools
In spite of the ACA we still have serious issues with actual access to medical care.

Is one candidate a saint (another stupid anti catholic posting btw), and will walk on water? No.

But what will happen if these issues are not tackled in a serious way by whoever wins the presidency, you think we are having troubles now? JUST WAIT.

I had a pretty vivid dream the other day... one that is near impossible. But both parties get the establishment candidate in... well the GE has people who are pissed protest voting for Jill Stein... alas enough do she actually wins the election. You know why? The third insurgent was not removed. We are in the middle of a change election. These are trends that point to either we change to a more inclusive society, and I could care less who gets the presidency... or we will face a radicalized youth. Becuase you know what? The kids have lost their future to no fault of their own, and due to the unrelenting greed . To paraphrase Senator Kennedy. "How much greed? When will enough be enough?"

We are seeing the edges of that in the edges of society with pretty middle class formerly Christian kids joining ISIS, as well as first and second generation Somali Americans and other immigrant groups, It is far less than Europe, but those are the leading edges of a very real crisis. Not one that our lovely media will speak, or why we are having that crisis.

I know this rant will not make any of the people trying to tar and feather either candidate happy... but it makes me feel better.

For the record, Trump will not win in a first vote, which data pointed to earlier in the year. He will likely have to horse trade delegates in the second vote... (which he has no clue how to do). So guess what? HRC or Sanders will not run against Trump. In fact I expect somebody we have likely not heard from, or with positives we do not expect, to be put in place by the Rs.

I also expect the Ds to go to a floor fight, given CURRENT DATA. I am guided by the dynamic data... that moves with each election, Tonight's election and final results changed things very little in the big picture, and at this point we are in a really close election. Spare me your "math" by the way.

The Rs might go away, this might be their last nominating convention. Yes it is that dramatic. But you know what? There is a chance this is the same for the Ds, and it has all to do with what I just posted. The crisis is real. So time you people get off these high horses, and the rest and realize that this is a crisis like none other. It is nothing much that is at risk, just your children.

I expect this to make zero sense to the at war factions here. but it makes me feel better to get this off my chest.

For the record, I am proud that a US Senator was invited to this conference, and the list of attendees is quite impressive. Live with it, or not, I give two shits about it. Also for the record, the optics suck for Clinton, but the MSM will protect her. And since I have been working on actual ISSUES, I know it is not just many of you who have a problem with complex stories. We are at a time when willful ignorance can cost us... nothing more, just species survival.

For the record, whoever is the next president includes whoever the Rs shoehorn at the open convention they are heading to.

Climate change does not give two shits if you are old, young, democrat, republican, Anerican, Chinese, Mexican, PRI, Pan, poor, insanely wealthy.

Americans like you are way too insulated to understand this. Next time I will try hard to write this at First Grade level. Of the points I raised, the only one uniquely American is the ACA. The rest are very relevant world wide. Income inequality is a real thing, not limited to the US. I know gobsmackibg as well.

And species extinction is actually possible. You think it will avoid you since you hate the subject?

You guys are a joke at times. The sad part is you don't even get why you are.

I could go into all the parts I agree with, including the realignment of party and change election issues, that discussion alone could go on for days. I needn't bother going into the petty anti-catholic and antisemitic criticisms because even the OP should not have to address the obvious divisive stupidity that goes along with any mindset that would encourage, voice, or even allow such expressions that sow division and hatred.

I will quote and actively point out something very important you missed because of a lack of attention span, possibly due to the bumper sticker and sound-bite driven population that the US has unfortunately become.

...We have major issues right now facing the future of the American people (and the world)

They are as follows and in no particular order:

Climate Change

But what will happen if these issues are not tackled in a serious way by whoever wins the presidency, you think we are having troubles now? JUST WAIT...

Ignore that bit at not just your own peril but that of your children (or if childless the younger generation)

I have tried like Nadin to draw attention to the importance of it all and the limited time we have to deal with such issues myself on occasion.

Since you don't like to read posts longer than a sound bite I will share a bit of that attempt, not for you, (your eyes have lready moved on by now anyway) but for others.

....For the sake of us all, I hope we make the better choice for all of humanity as this is history folks and history almost always ends up with the bloody revolution. However unlike in the past, we are facing an Extinction level event that threatens many of the lifeforms on the planet including humanity itself and so we lack the luxury of time and blood soaked streets and the turmoil that follows such ever recurring events before things settle and we begin to repair the damage being done to the biosphere that supports us.

Not to be an alarmist, but the alarm has already sounded and we not only need to fight and win a political revolution and defeat the plutocrats, we must restore balance and sanity again, but we must do so quickly.

We must unite as well and stop being divided by minor differences within our species (in truth there is only one human race regardless of melanin content, shape of eye, differences in sex organs, or varying choices of sexuality and we need to wake up from meaningless differences very quickly if we are to survive) we absolutely must unify and do so quickly..

There is no more time to play history's games of the wealthy siphoning everything until a revolution occurs, or the games of racism, sexism, or any other isms.

For time is too short and not only must the quality of life of the struggling and ever more impoverished masses be resolved, but unity must happen or not only will the impoverished grow hungry, but the entire human race will cease to exist.

We have run out of time to play the DNC and RNC games and fully awaken not only to live well, but to live at all.
The Younger generation has begun to glean this and so must we all, and unfortunately time is so short that such grand goals with such high stakes must begin by winning a simple yet difficult to win political revolution happening in this very election. Made so unnecessarily difficult by pure, short sighted ridiculous greed of people like the Clintons, their third way and the Republicans.

Let us all awaken now!!!!

Another problem with our country that nadin did not mention in the post you feel is just too long and difficult to read but commented on anyway with a reply that said and added absolutely nothing to the conversation.

I see another problem as well. Due to climate
change, wars and inequality I see a terrible rise
of nationalism, and not just in this country, but
in many European ones as well.

Religion has always been used as a tool to divide,
and that is part of the ME problem as well.

Don't get me wrong, I am all for Bernie's success,
but I think unfortunately at this point the hate and
war factions may be favored. The PTB will encourage
that for their own interests.

As far as the Pope issue is concerned, I believe too
much has been made of a Vatican's economic conference.
I understand that Bernie wants to take part in it, because
it is right up his alley. Yet, how many have there been, and
what really has even the Paris "agreement" achieved, is
another question.

Honestly, this is frightening. I expected a better understanding from the public over climate change. Just the opposite. There's a disconnect. Emissions are way the hell up in the last recent years. But the youth are fully aware their future may include treading water.

The younger generation know what's going on, and they're very impatient now.

I expected a tie, but got caught up in the hype, and then we have tonight a less than adequate result. People should realize that the 2C climate temperature increase was initially 1.5C. We're going to essentially sacrifice millions of poor in low lying countries in order to give us time to change. So let's just keep dragging our feet.

There is a full core press effort to confuse regular folks. But...Bernie understands this, so does Hillary, and many republicans like Kasich, for example. Pols have a collective interest in "not getting it." But they do. Ok there is a particular senator that does not. He's a fan of snow balls in the senate.

The lack of action is truly willful. And a few folks are getting insanely rich

With the "Panama Papers" release we are seeing the people revolt in Iceland and Britain and it's only the beginning. Bernie has repeatedly stressed that we have the power if we only use it.

Equal justice for all doesn't always include our judicial system. The establishment elite have bypassed our felony courts by refusing to indict their own and they set-up thru Trade agreements a civil ISDS court system excluding us and we allow it.

Even look now at their successful brainwashing as people on both sides accept the fact that Hills is to big to indict and jail. We should be in the streets if she walks free. This isn't America if law breakers aren't fearful of us when they screw us.

We need to take back this country

This is corruption and lack of accountability. We have not hit bottom with that. When people lose faith in institutions due to systemic corruption and accountability, what is next?

Those in power should be afraid when Dennis Hastert is given a slap in the wrist for abusing 4 kids, statue of limitations, I get it. But nobody believed anybody would do a thing due to his connections. That is textbook

That sooner or later leads to revolts and radicalization
