Related: About this forumBill Clinton: Sanders is only questioning (Hillary’s) qualifications because she is a woman
Bernie Sanders: I appreciate Bill Clinton being my psychoanalystBernie Sanders says its clear that Hillary Clintons presidential campaign has turned negative now that hes won seven of the last eight contests in the race for the Democratic nomination.
And former President Bill Clintons assertion that Sanders is only questioning her qualifications because she is a woman, he says, is proof of that negative tone.
Of course you wouldnt have made the same charges if she were a man, Bill Clinton said of Sanders.
Sanders said on CNNs State of the Union:
... the reality is that ever since Wisconsin, when that became the sixth out of seven states that we have won in either caucuses or primaries, I think the Clinton campaign has made it public, basically, they told the media, that here in New York theyre about to become very negative, about to beat us up.
(Sanders) said hes not about to take it lying down.

As a feminist, I am appalled by their miss use of it. It should be reserved for when women actually face sexism, not as a trump card when someone doesn't get what they want.

By the way, HRC is taking Walton and Wall Street money because it's money. (That's even the justification: hey it's only money, it has no effect!)
Women who work for Walmart don't count.

We all know that's not true. You're cheating had nothing to do with your wife's womanhood, it had to do with your desire to cheat.
Sen Sander's desire is to CAMPAIGN against his opponent, who happens to be a woman.

(24,411 posts)Bernie played this well. The Clinton camp was hoping that Bernie would bring up Bill's White House sexcapades and impeachment. Then the Clinton camp could scream, "Bernie is being mean!! He's attacking us with right wing talking points!!"
Well played, Bernie. You stayed above the fray.
Your supporters will be happy to point out that Bill Clinton--a man who sexually exploited a twenty-something intern and publicly humiliated and disrespected his wife on the national stage--probably isn't the best person to give Bernie Sanders a lecture on sexism.
Bill's comments will no doubt attract all kinds of commentary and analysis of his hypocrisy and his abberant sexual behavior.
Oh great. We all get to re-litigate the blue dress, cigar sex and blow jobs in the White House bathroom.

(23,156 posts)Hillary Clinton is only sexist, and cannot ever possibly be grounded in real flaws or mistakes on her part.
We certainly can (and do) disagree about various aspects of her record, whether certain accomplishments on her part are good, whether various policies she implemented as SoS did more harm than good, whether various votes she made while Senator were the best possible votes. Those, and many others, are valid areas for differences of opinion. But to think some particular vote of hers, say the Iraq War vote, or some policy, such as supporting the TPP or fracking or a $12/hour minimum wage, are good or bad, are opinions, and to disagree with her on any of those is not simply criticizing her just because she's a woman.

(14,177 posts)Because that is what it is. It's crap it's like saying you can never say a bad thing about a woman or question their abilities just because they are women and it's sexist to say that you don't want them because they did something that was terrible. Or they did a lot of somethings that were terrible. Only men can be incompetent and unqualified.

Bill Clinton lied to us all, humiliated his wife, and performed sex acts where most people would have been fired and subject to civil suit.
That is long past but The Clinton Foundation, relation to Jeffrey Epstein, and things said campaigning for Hillary Clinton in 2008 and 2016 reveal the darkness.

senz
(11,945 posts)He criticized her Iraq war vote, her use of super PAC and Wall Street money and her position on trade agreements like NAFTA. There is nothing sexist in that kind of criticism.
She, on the other hand, suggested that he didn't know what he was talking about in the NY Daily News interview, that he hadn't done his homework, and implied that he isn't mentally sharp. That is very personal, very demeaning -- as well as false.
I'm really getting sick of the Clinton campaign's obsession with gender. I cannot imagine someone like Elizabeth Warren playing the gender card.

(11,175 posts)Let me hasten to assure the jurors that I'm not actually addressing the issue of whether Hillary Clinton is a racist. Instead, I'm refuting Bill Clinton's latest smear, by showing how his logic would apply to that question.
Hillary's infamous "3:00 a.m. phone call" ad was a much nastier attack on qualifications than anything either Clinton or Sanders has done this cycle.
