Bill De Blasio on explaining why he took so long to endorse HRC said he runs on C.P. time...

Did anyone see this?

But isn't C.P. time a racist joke? How has this not been covered much in the media. In case you don't know, C.P. time refers to colored people's time and refers to the racist stereotype that black people are late to everything.

when Joy Behar asked him if the Pope had invited him to the Vatican. The number of OPs about that is gargantuan. I'm certain it would be the same or even worse if Sanders had used this joke even if it were with one of his surrogates like Nina Turner, Killer Mike, or Cornel West.

Just an observation. Your 2 cents may vary.

Really? This is the most progressive Mayor New York City has ever had. He has an African-American wife and children.

This is just a ridiculous and embarrassing accusation. You really should be ashamed at your ignorance.

And I'm voting for Sanders next Tuesday, despite your idiotic OP.

It just kinda starts sticking in my craw when I hear people who clearly aren't black going off like that, and sure, maybe it's a bit of a double standard, but it always provokes a double take. Carry on, mate.

ETA: It's... Hard to explain how I see it, but it's kinda like-- by his works, he's a progressive politician-- but he's getting too comfortable, as my cousin would have said about countless friends he and I mutually knew.

Eff that and them.

Well I am far less offended by this statement than by the lack of good humor. This was just so uneasy and hard to watch. It oozed fakeness. I am sure the drawer was stuck because their self-respect had hidden in there to get away and locked it from the inside so they couldn't find it. For one it was a play on words, it depends on the audience and on the intent. If they are not using ti to bemoan a group it seems harmless. This one was done just for the punch line and perhaps to give Hillary cred from a mayor that is in a mixed relationship. I have made plenty of CP jokes with my extended family, I think it helps people bond to use some of the same vernacular. CP is used in varying forms in multiple countries. You can't get away from the jokes with African relatives, and I have heard it from Indian's as well when talking about making appointments back in India. (can't remember if they called it CP exactly, but it was the same thing).

Often a joke is not seen as bad when it is made by people who are part of the community that the joke references but if an outsider does it especially of a group that in the past oppressed it comes of as off-color.

There are certain words as a gay man that I am not comfortable with straight people calling me, while I will use those words among friends in an endearing way.

I find that he was more ok to say it, and it seems like it was written by the younger guy (not sure, perhaps because it read like a school play in how clunky it was). That is my own bias there, but I guess the thing I had not thought about is that he was kind of selling his part of the community for political gain, that is a bit less cool. What was the audience? It is was in a majority mixed or minority group it would make more sense to make such a joke, since it was just playing to the crowd.

Note to De Blasio: Having a mixed-race family does NOT give you a pass to use bigoted, racist, insensitive jokes.

This is further proof of her disqualification to serve as leader of this nation.

.
A day or so before this "Inner Circle" event, one of Hillary's handlers reviews the script, because you know she does this.

Staffer: Madam, this one joke concerns me.
Clinton: Oh, my. Oh, this isn't good, this is very insensitive and inappropriate, we can't do this.
Staffer: What shall we do?
Clinton: Get de Blasio's office on the phone, I need to tell him that this has to go or I won't be part of it.

But that conversation never happened.
