While at State, Clinton chief of staff held job negotiating with Abu Dhabi

While at State, Clinton chief of staff held job negotiating with Abu Dhabi

New York University (NYU) and the United Arab Emirates UAE)- We documented that Cheryl Mills, Hillary’s longtime aide and confidant, worked as State Department chief of staff while at the same time she was NYU general counsel from January to May 2009. She collected $198,000 from NYU during that period, while she also received a government paycheck.

Mills also continued to serve on the board of the Clinton Foundation for over a month after joining the State Department. Even worse, Mills also at the time sat on the board of something called the “NYU in Abu Dhabi Corporation.” NYU has a satellite campus in Abu Dhabi, bankrolled by the Abu Dhabi government. Abu Dhabi is one of seven monarchies comprising the UAE.

The Clinton/NYU/UAE relationship appears to have been a lucrative one for the Clintons, and offered an Arab nation unparalleled influence on and access to in the State Department.

Hillary gave the NYU commencement address in May, 2009. Bill received $600,000 for a UAE government event in 2011, and $175,000 in November 2009 for a speech in Abu Dhabi. Bill has given additional paid speeches in the UAE, including a 2013 address at NYU’s Abu Dhabi campus.

The Clinton Foundation has also received between $1 million and $5 million from the UAE government.

At the State Department, she was unpaid in those first months, officially designated as a temporary expert-consultant — a status that allowed her to continue to collect outside income while serving as chief of staff. She reported that NYU paid her $198,000 in 2009, when her university work overlapped with her time at the State Department, and that she collected an additional $330,000 in vacation and severance payments when she left the school’s payroll in May 2009.

The arrangement, which Mills discussed publicly for the first time in an interview with The Washington Post, is another example of how Clinton as secretary allowed close aides to conduct their public work even as they performed jobs benefiting private interests. Another key Clinton aide, Huma Abedin, spent her last six months as Clinton’s deputy chief of staff in 2012 simultaneously employed by the Clinton Foundation, the family’s global charity, and a consulting company with close Clinton connections. Similarly, Mills remained on the Clinton Foundation’s unpaid board for a short time after joining the State Department.

just to consider, all at once, all the stuff you have to ignore to support clinton's candidacy. i can't get past the billions in arms sales to the middle east in exchange for foundation "donations."

Can you imagine tv news people actually discussing these kinds of things? Nope - it's so much more fun to talk about Bill's sex life, Bernie's hair, Hillary being attacked for being a woman.
