The Pope is a better person than I so I doubt he'll do that.
I also doubt he follows the triviality of American politics.
But it would sure be tempting.

(12,655 posts)just to be polite
and that would go up the butts of certain individuals around here who will start 10,000 threads on why it is meaningless

(24,411 posts)circling DU, waiting for a Bernie supporter to post, "Oh, isn't that nice that the Pope met with Bernie", so they could descend with their usual schtick (smilies and all):
------
"OMG Becky! It's totally true that Bernie was the one who initiated the conversation with the Pope! I read it on Blue Nation Review!!!!! The Pope was polite, but obviously this was Bernie being rude and inviting himself into the Pope's personal space! Bernie initiated that whole conversation! I read it on Twitter and you can totally tell that the Pope was very, very angry! There was sweat on his Pope hat! So totally caused by his rage at Bernie!"
"You're like, so right Tiffany. Bernie obviously has abandoned New Yorkers. He left he country during a very important time!!!! Sure, Hillary left New York for her $300,000-a-plate fundraiser with George Clooney at the home of a big banker...but, she's doing this out of the goodness of her heart. Bernie is just being selfish! So, so selfish!"
"Becks. I feel sorry for Bernie. This is a desperate attempt to win the millennial, Catholic nun vote. And there's like three of them. So sad for him."

(20,582 posts)He should. But then there'd be all those heads exploding and I think he'd be sad hearing about that.

Should they meet at all (which I doubt)
it will be in private.
The Vatican is a "country" and therefore
will avoid any suspicion of interference
in our elections. Te Pope knows well how
to separate issues from obvious politics.
You actually saw that distinction in his
speech to Congress.
