2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumThank God for Rachel Maddow correcting David Letterman on his criticism of Obama on auto bailout
First time I've seen Dave be unaware of the facts about politics (not that I see him daily), but he said 'we find out today that' the president 'took liberties' with the excerpts from Romney's auto bailout op-ed, and Rachel did a fantastic job of explaining what Romney had advocated (saying GM could seek private loans when there was none available), and maybe the president didn't say it so well last night and was "more pointed" and not "as nuanced as he was in the 1st debate" about it.
But, seriously, at this late stage, to have someone so influential as Dave is with Dems and voters be negative about Obama being wrong about the bailout position of Romney, when Ohio is so close, is really tough to watch and Rachel just proved her value thanks to that great explanation! She deserves thanks for it!
And her slam of Romney's ignorance about Syria was golden! Dave is right to be livid about the lack of discussion on guns and climate change, I see why he's angry. Again, Rachel is a benefit to the Democratic Party, even if she's not officially a "dem", she is a progressive, and she can 'get through' to undecideds with her way of positioning issues.

(89,275 posts)if Republicans don't believe in Climate Change how does one debate it ?
the Democratic Primary is where the issues are discussed .

(21,056 posts)and yeah, listening to a Republican attack climate change is painful. Of course, with Romney's hard shift from hard-right to moderate-left as a "peace" advocate, who knows, maybe he would have said he'd support further research to sound just like Obama, since he did it so much last night. UGH....

For Rmoney et al., these are non-issues.

That way, he gives his guest a soap box and something interesting to talk about!

He has clearly been a strong supporter of Obama since 2008.

(4,822 posts)Between David and Rachael after the Letterman comment that President Obama wasn't telling the truth etc... There's an edited version of this going viral on Right-Wing websites that starts with Letterman's accusations and stops just after Letterman makes the dumb comments without Rachael explaining etc...
