(47,803 posts)And let's ignore them after the primaries and go back to Unflavored Tapioca in the General and once the elections are over.
After all, according to the Clintons, they just want to "shoot every third person on wall Street"
DCBob
(24,689 posts)Once that is over we can discuss mending fences and cooperating and and merging ideas from Bernie and his followers. Until then this is still a battle.

(7,321 posts)At this juncture fences have been completely torched.. there's nothing left to "mend".

(24,689 posts)Most of Bernie supporters are more normal.

(15,558 posts)Are you saying that huge media/Clinton campaign meme is about a handful of people on DU? Hillary and the party have a rude awakening coming.
DCBob
(24,689 posts)All I am saying is that most Bernie supporters are not as extreme as what we have here on DU... imo.

(15,558 posts)unhinged racist, sexist, Bernie Bros. Now you folks want to say it's only a handful and most Sanders supporters will gladly become drones for the queen.

(24,689 posts)This poll says 70% of Bernie supporters will vote for Hillary if she is the nominee. I think that suggests fences can be mended.

(7,321 posts)despite the proximity of the uber wealthy Clinton funders here, there remains a rather significant number of progressives among the population who share the same view. Person to Person, on and off line. I do realize SF Bay Area is not the rest of the country, as much as I would like it to be.

(5,066 posts)this means she wins new york on tuesday but it will be closer than many once thought.she defently won't do as well in new york as bernie did in vermont.
As for california their primary isn't till june so it's still in play for Bernie.

(7,321 posts)About a quarter of the number of phone banking calls made yesterday to registered Dems in New York stated they were voting for Trump.. This was part of the tally in my local gotv gathering.
Between Clinton and Bernie declared responses, it was roughly 50-50. Not nearly as far apart as these polls project. But I am aware that our numbers doesn't necessarily reflect the totality.
(Lectures not required, thank you very much).

(7,321 posts)I repeat, but word it differently if that helps.
GOTV group in the community where I live, phone banked (of course for Bernie) registered Dems in New York. All the calls were placed to Registered Dems. .
At the end of our session, we shared notes on the responses. how many for Bernie, how many for Clinton, how many for "other". how many no answers, how many moved etc.
Just to be clear, our objective was to encourage the gotv to show up at the polls on tuesday, and can we count on their support for Bernie.
The response were either in support of Bernie, or voiced their support for someone else (Clinton etc), or some not voting at all.
In some instances responders were very vocal about voting for Trump. These were registered Dems. We were scratching our heads over those calls, because after all, these were registered Democrats.
But hey, it's New York! They voted Giuliani for Mayor, right? ! Must of had a lot of Dems voting for him.
So there's that element in play is all I'm saying...

(84,711 posts)Also, I thought Dems can't crossover in NY Election. If that is so then I wonder if when they get to the polls and find they have to vote Dem if they won't pick Bernie because if they were for Trump they sure aren't going to vote for Hillary, one would think.

(7,321 posts)Most of my calls tended to land downstate.. although a few up state too. A lot of my calls seemed to target various districts of NYC.
It's an auto dialer system, but didn't seem to be calling specific districts per caller, but since I'm not a resident and I'm not familiar with one local from another, it was all I could do to keep up with data entering those responses. I didn't take note of every zip code/polling precincts. Just the ones who were Bernie supporters, to confirm addresses and polling locations.
But having a look at the interactive calling map, it appeared we were placing calls to both up state and downstate, which was fun to watch whenever I could sneak a glimpse.
On Edit: On the responders who declared voting for Trump or other, I didn't get into how they were going to vote cross party lines given they were registered Democrats. As with declared Clinton voters, I just thanked them for their time and wished them a good day.
and for all your efforts

(2,054 posts)If he can get Hillary's number down to 55% that would be a huge win in a closer primary where people haven't even been able to register to vote since last October!
If independents were allowed to vote, those who will decide the November election, Bernie would easily win this primary.
