his mortgage interest is a rather large amount. His interest was 22,946. Assuming a 6% mortgage he still owes 458,920 on his houses (I presume he owns one in VT and one in the DC area). Assuming he has had those mortgages for 15 years means the value of the houses in total would be over a million. I admit, I wouldn't have thought he had that much mortgage interest. He has been in VT for a very long time and in DC for 25 years. A mortgage is often 30 years so he should be fairly close to paying them off and thus not paying a ton of interest.

Yeah, that $200k income leaves a lot of disposable income room to pay $50k in real estate carrying costs. The upper middle class get some nice tax breaks.

This is why I laugh at whining Joe the plumber type republicans crying about the proposed tax increases on money earned over $250k.

We all knew those "examples" of people claiming to earn $250 were full of shit. Most people in that income bracket are writing off $50k plus. For any increase to kick in, they have to be over $300-350k before any real increases hit. And even then we are only talking about a couple grand.

I have no idea what Sanders' mortgage situation is. I will say I've written 30 year loans for 70 year olds.

No laws require the release of tax forms by presidential candidate, nor are there any laws regarding the release of speech transcripts for speeches given when someone isn't even in office.

It's up to the individual candidates, really. Some may not like their decisions, and can choose to vote based on that. Personally, I don't much care about either issue really. I could probably paraphrase Hillary's speeches without ever having heard them.

It's not just Sanders. All middle class people should have to release their returns. I know they're all in it together. You cannot trust them. Not like rich people. We can trust them. They have only our best interests at heart.
