(1,370 posts)I'm glad this is being exposed and people are fighting voter suppression.. Have a friend who's wife was mysteriously missing from their local voting rolls and had to affidavit vote for Bernie.

The once great FDR populist party once represented half of the US citizenry.. Now they've declined to barely representing a third...

Lessons learned. The hard way, but it's still a valuable lesson.

(1,370 posts)What good doesn't it do to register from Ind. to Democrat if they won't count your vote?

(42,862 posts)... as set out in the party rules. Voters who were truly engaged and paying attention would have known this.

If we were living in a country that still had any real investment in the Democratic process we wouldn't even be having this discussion...

(42,862 posts)... encouraging people lie about their registration status in order to create conflict, it's my estimation that the "no-record" accusations you mention are not very likely to be taken too seriously. Some democracy, huh?
In the end, it's the state party organization who decide who is, and who isn't eligible to participate. There's no constitutional guarantee that anyone must be permitted to participate in party activities. That's reserved for the General Election.
In fact, any state party organization could, if they wanted to, decide to award their delegates based solely on party big-wigs and verbal "aye/nay" votes from their a smoke-filled conference room.
It's pretty clear to me that what we have here are a bunch of enthusiastic (now) so-called "Independents" who've registered that way (for whatever reasons they may have) but who now would like to participate with the Democratic party... and in their anger and frustration, they are willing to say and do anything to make it happen.
While I understand their motivation, I have absolutely no sympathy for anyone who's not conscientious enough to register properly, within the deadlines, and keep their registration active by regularly voting. All these wild conspiracy theories about ONLY the "Bernie voters" being flipped are absolute rubbish. Those tactics only serve to make them appear even LESS engaged and LESS trustworthy, and ultimately isolating themselves, by their own actions, even further.
They're creating their own vicious cycle, then complaining about it. The procedures are already in place for anyone to join the party ... all they have to do is declare their party affiliation within the deadlines. No excuses. No conspiracy. Just do it like they're supposed to and all will be golden.
Good chatting with you. I'll read whatever follow-up comments you may have, but I think we've pretty much exhausted things here and have reached a stalemate.
