(1,359 posts)Is NY Bernie's home state? Or is it Vermont? He's lived in VT longer than he ever lived in NY, at this point. Which is it?
Bernie has been going around NYC calling it "his city," but wasn't he mayor of Burlington, VT? Why isn't the town he was the executive leader of for many years "his city?"

(28,136 posts)...every reference to home state I've ever heard is to the state you were from. Where you were born.

It's actually up to the individual to determine where they consider their home state, not online strangers trying to score points for their candidate.

(40,168 posts)BTW, don't you consider Germany your home country? You were born there.

(59,503 posts)and if you bothered to watch his victory speech in Essex Junction, VT, it was very very clear he was speaking to a home town crowd.
People move and do not stay where they were born, but Bernie really has a real home town in Burlington, VT.
It is not really clear where Clinton's home town is. In terms of the place she has spent the most time in - I think it is DC. She lived in the WH for 8 years, with no other home and then for 6 years as Senator and 4 as Secretary of State had both a DC home and a NY home.
I suggest that both could be asked what they consider their home state to be.

(3,557 posts)They left the Whitehouse in 2000 and, instead of returning back to Ar-Kansas, they decided to move to NY for the sake of Hillary's political career. It was strikingly obvious at the time and still is that she was a carpetbagger.

The lyrics to the songbird's melodious trill go something like this:
"Stay out of my territory or I'll PECK YOUR GODDAMNED EYES OUT!"
(16,184 posts)I've asked this repeatedly, and never gotten an answer. It would seem that people who are so principled in their anti-carpetbagging sentiments would be so kind as to tell me where in Vermont the Senator was born.

(7,429 posts)I was born in Connecticut, but that was never really my home state. I only lived there for a few years anyway.
The majority of my life I lived in Florida. That is where I live now. That's why it's my Home State!!!

(1,728 posts)and spent the first 18 years of my life there then moved to NC. I called NC my home state for 22 years. Now I am back in TX so TX is once again my home state. See how that works.

(6,399 posts)I was born in RI and my parents move to MA when I was five. I have ZERO recollection of RI and I know that in some form it's considered my "home state" but I just refer to it as the state of my birth.
I don't consider it my home state since I've spent 40 years since then in MA.
