If Sanders does not win New Hampshire by double digits, the results will be viewed as a victory for Clinton.

This conclusion was dutifully repeated on networks covering the primary. The blowout in New Hampshire pretty much made that narrative moot, although it was clear that was the story that would dominate coverage had the outcome been closer.
So, given New York is Hillary's home state and given the closed nature of the primary and the harsh registration deadlines designed to boost the chances of the establishment candidate, wouldn't it be reasonable and consistent to claim a single digit victory by Clinton should be viewed as a victory for Sanders?

(11,631 posts)4. The problem with arguing over who wins a moral victory under what scenario
Is that Bernie is way behind and running out of states. So, while a case may be made that a relatively small margin for Clinton in New York would be a moral victory for Sanders, the reality is it just makes it that much more unlikely for him to catch up.

Clinton simply has to win NY - 51% would be fine. 247 fewer delegates in the race increases the already sizable margin that Bernie needs to catch up.
