Huge African American population (which drives a lot of Borough politics), Hassidic neighborhoods in South Williamsburg, Crown Heights and Borough Park, Asians in Sunset Park, Russians in Brighton Beach, Muslims along Atlantic Ave...

there are not only working class but also professional voters and of course age-wise lots of people older than 35.

And that doesn't even get into the cultural diversity here--Caribbean, African-American, Latino, Jewish, etc.

hipsters are concentrated in a few neighborhoods--Williamsburgh, Bushwick, Prospect Heights--that are either gentrified or gentrifying.

Hipsters are just in a few neighborhoods. Brookly is a huge borough.

Search Google for images of Brooklyn West Indian Day parade, which is held every Labor Day down Eastern Parkway.
