2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumNow that the affadavit ballot ruling has come through, the media needs to do the right thing...
That is, do NOT broadcast results or make any projections for NY, if voting hours are extended, until ALL everyone waiting in line has had the chance to cast their ballots.
Additionally, the New York state elections officials should withhold any release of partial results until everyone in line has been able to vote.

Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)No hypocrisy in saying that.
Results should never be released within a state as long as people are still voting in that state.
Simple fair play.
The State of Arizona should also be sued for every aspect of how it handled that primary.

(1,511 posts)They were posting really bad numbers and no one was calling them out on it. They were posting in a count of districts that started to count in one area or something, nothing to do with the actual count. They had it at 70% while everyone else had it at .7% or something.

(50,254 posts)If the hours are extended, it will be because(as was the case in Arizona)the process was flawed, not because anyone showed up to vote too late.
This is a systemic issue.

(50,254 posts)There will be people waiting in line at 9 who got in line at 6. You can't seriously argue that THOSE people are to blame.

(2,039 posts)Its the ones that want to pop in at ten.
Ken Burch
(50,254 posts)Whether the hours are extended or not, no projections should be made, and no results released, until everyone waiting in line has had the chance to vote.
Fair enough?

Why do you claim to be a Democrat? Why do hate that people might get to vote???

(2,039 posts)This Sanders campaign is complete frivolous and unnecessary and it has been from the start. He never should have run and he was told not to run. All it is doing is wasting resources Hillary needs for the fall.

(631 posts)coronation? Bernie should know his place, and bow down before her majesty. He's forcing her to pretend to care about such trifles as minimum wage. It doesn't matter whether she claims $12 / hr or $15 / hr. Both will go into the dustbin, once we have the coronation. She knows our imperial system can only afford war. The rest of that stuff is just too hard.
Some people just don't get it
Gomez163
(2,039 posts)All he's doing now is driving up Hillary's negatives. I wish he would check his ego and get out.

(631 posts)We have 20 states yet to vote.
While it is true that Bernie was down by 330 pledged delegates @ Super Tuesday, things have changed a lot in the past month in case you haven't noticed.
Gomez163
(2,039 posts)ITS OVER.
casperthegm
(643 posts)And if the people's votes end up giving Bernie more delegates by the convention then the super delegates are obligated to follow the will of the people. If that doesn't happen the system is broken.

Kmmfff.
I'm just glad I cleared my ignore list; I might have missed this gem.
Sanders' campaign is certainly not completely frivolous or unnecessary. It's incredibly arrogant and silly to say that.

(12,296 posts)None of us (probably) remember the days when elections were tallied by hand and certified, then published via newspaper or perhaps radio-only. We're so damned impatient now we can't wait 5 minutes for anything, never mind overnight.
Would that the standard of "you'll find out when tomorrow morning's paper arrives" still held.
