Without Women and Minority Support, Hillary Would Be Losing Badly To Bernie

Plus, all the polls on DU have shown that Bernie has been making dramatic gains even in these groups. As for Hillary winning parts of the South, Bernie hit the nail on the head:

http://fivethirtyeight.com/features/clinton-is-winning-the-states-that-look-like-the-democratic-party/

“Secretary Clinton cleaned our clock in the Deep South, no question about it,” Bernie Sanders said during Thursday night’s Democratic debate in Brooklyn. “That is the most conservative part of this great country,” he continued. “But you know what, we’re out of the Deep South now. And we’re moving up.”

African Americans, women, gays, Asian Americans, Native Americans, progressive whites — you know, what America looks like.

It doesn't work anymore just to win white votes. It took them a while to grasp that.

Like where have they been? The Obama coalition, those demographic segments I mentioned above, won in '08 and '12 yet were ignored in the early southern primaries.

Perhaps Bernie should demand his money back from Weaver and Devine for malpractice.

Wed Apr 20, 2016, 12:14 AM
Apr 2016

Here is another article noting that if California was mostly white and male, Hillary would have no chance whatsoever.

http://www.latimes.com/politics/la-pol-ca-california-politics-trump-sanders-20160403-story.html

But among blue-collar voters, she’s beating Sanders by 6 points because so many of those voters here are Latinos and women, two groups with which Clinton has relationships dating to her husband’s 1992 campaign.

Among Latinos making less than $50,000, for example, Clinton won, 55% to 33%. Wealthier Latinos were split between the candidates. (Their numbers are too small to measure separately, but lower-income African American and Asian American voters sided with Latinos; taken together, lower-income minority voters backed Clinton by 15 points while wealthier minority voters were split.)

Had the state’s working-class voters been mostly white, as they are in other states, the results would have been different. The poll found Clinton lost to Sanders by 12 points among white voters earning less than $50,000 annually.

Now we're supposed to discount the votes of women, blacks, Latinos and probably every other demographic that voted for Hillary. That's what some so called Democrats/Liberals/Progressives have gone to in their Sanders support.

The epitaph of his campaign is that the Sanders campaign and his supporters only seem to have anger, harassment and bullying in their arsenal of campaign tactics. They don't have the ability to reach out and do the soft convince at all.

They are angry at all the Demographic groups who don't support Bernie and have been from the moment the dynamic became apparent. They never reached out they were just angry and nasty towards us. This OP is the latest example.

Without Women and Minority Support, Hillary Would Be Losing Badly To Bernie

Seems you want to repeal the 15th Amendment, the 19th Amendment, and the Voting Rights Act, am I right?

“Secretary Clinton cleaned our clock in the Deep South, no question about it,” Bernie Sanders said during Thursday night’s Democratic debate in Brooklyn. “That is the most conservative part of this great country,” he continued. “But you know what, we’re out of the Deep South now. And we’re moving up.”

The residents of New York, Illinois, Nevada, Massachussetts. Iowa, and Ohio will be surprised to learn they live in the Deep South, am i right?

You guys can't be real with these constant excuses every time Sanders loses.

I mean how did you really expect him to win the nomination? He's only been in the party for 9 months, hasn't passed on any of the millions he's raised to down-ticket dems, and it's become increasingly obvious that he only joined the party to use it for the national recognition he couldn't get as an independent.

And btw, he's covered his you know what by re-upping as an independent for his upcoming senate run in 2018, so did he ever do anything but borrow the (D) to put by his name but for convenience?

No one claimed that every 59 year old woman supports any particular candidate.

However, the statistical evidence shows that being female and being over a certain age is associated with preferring one candidate versus another.

President Obama won in 2012 even though Mitt Romney carried a majority of white men -- and white women.

Hillary will carry women of all races.

And what just happened in NY? Women went strongly for Hillary -- about 60/40, while men went for Bernie -- but only 52/48.

And African American voters were three times as likely to vote for Hillary as for Bernie.

And the last time I looked, Democrats in the South, white, black, or any variation have the right to contribute to who our nominee will be. This conservative brush is not as broad as many of you would like to think, but even if it is, as a Democrat, we have a say in who leads our party.

Being white and male make your vote more valuable than anyone else anymore.

He hasn't been making gains. He lost African American 25-75; he got about 36% of the Latino vote. If that's an inroad, it's not anywhere near enough to pull off a victory. Clinton got 50% of the white vote. She also got 50% of the male vote, but in each of those categories is included the votes of people you think less important. The votes of the majority matter, not just white men. America is a diverse nation, and voters do not want to turn the clock back to when white men alone were able to determine political leaders.

Thank you for expressing honestly what this election is truly about.

What you wrote about "Women and Minority Support" is, of course, true; but, I want to know whether you understand and/or care about the weight of that comment.

It was, at best (and my sincere hope), inartful cheerleading to spur on the troops. But, at worse (and my fear), it betrays a desire to return to a period, we (Democrats and Liberals) fought, and continue fighting, hard to escape.

In any case, a post like that has no place in the minds or mouths of anyone that claims to be a modern Democrat or a liberal ... though, I'm not sure about "progressives" (as represented on DU), as this sentiment seems to be a core value (as evidenced by the frequency of it being expressed).

Bernie's Caucasian fan-boys are just going to have to deal with the fact that a lot of women, Asian-Americans, Afro-Americans, Native Americans, Latino Americans, and other minority groups DO vote.
