2016 Postmortem
Related: About this forumfrom DFA:
Bernie lost New York tonight, but the battle for the nomination continues. Five states vote one week from tonight -- Connecticut, Delaware, Maryland, Pennsylvania, and Rhode Island.
If Bernie does well on April 26, it will set up an epic showdown on June 7 in six states, including California's massive 475 pledged delegates.
Here's what Bernie just said about tonight's results:
"Whats important is that it looks like were going win a lot more delegates in New York than any state that voted or caucused before tonight.
So what does that mean? Five important states vote one week from tonight, with more delegates at stake than Hillary Clinton led by coming into tonight. And if we do well next Tuesday, we remain in a position to take the pledged delegate lead when almost 700 delegates are up-for-grabs on June 7."
All across this country, voters are learning more about Bernie and our political revolution -- and the better they get to know him, the more they are convinced that he would be the best choice for the Democratic Party.
The national polls -- including the most recent polls from NBC News and FOX -- are showing significant momentum for Bernie, with most agreeing that he and Hillary are now statistically tied with Democratic voters.
We have one week left to show the voters who are going to the polls next Tuesday that our movement is for real, that it is growing, and that together, we can win the presidency and take this country back from the 1%.

(90,347 posts)... the electorate is diverse which is sad to say for Sanders that the more diverse the state the better Clinton does... that should go for both candidates

White gravy is a masterpiece along with my biscuits.
Northern folks scare me with their cooking at times.

(130,974 posts)so you're invited into my kitchen to do white gravy and biscuits! (I tend toward the mediteranean style.)

(39,961 posts)I eat meat and raw vegetables as a rule. I also run, which is helpful.
That said, I have to eat some red beans and rice. I'm not even going to ever lie about that, and yes, homemade biscuits.
I love to cook, it is just something that makes me smile .

Honey, I dare you to say I'm not from the Deep South, grew up in New Orleans, and could bite your very tongue with my cooking.
I do suggest you take a step back.

NJ is just obviously not anywhere near the South.

I may visit Vermont this summer, as family had lived and vacationed there; will be nice to get back.

(39,961 posts)every day is summer.
Which is rather a mixed blessing
I would practically adore moving to Antarctica to avoid the dang heat. As a bonus I could do research and not have to mess with too many people.

(9,313 posts)...Bernie ended up with 47% of the pledged delegates?
Is this an accomplishment you would feel proud of?
With 700 more delegates, he'd be at 47% of pledged.
Here's a scenario that would do it:
State / Dels / % of Tot Dels / Type
CT / 28 / 51% / Closed (Unaffl chg thru 4/25)
DE / 10 / 48% / Closed
MD / 38 / 40% / Closed
PA / 87 / 46% / Closed
RI / 14 / 58% / Semi-closed (No repub)
IN / 44 / 53% / Open
Guam / 3 / 43% /
WV / 17 / 57% / Semi-Closed (undecl ok)
KY / 26 / 47% / Closed
OR / 37 / 61% / Closed
VirI / 4 / 57% /
PR / 30 / 50% / Closed caucuses
CA / 239 / 50% / Semi-closed ("no party pref" ok)
MT / 13 / 62% / Open
NJ / 61 / 48% / Closed (Undecl ok)
NM / 17 / 50% / Closed
SD / 13 / 65% / Semi-open (no repubs)
ND / 12 / 67% / Open caucuses
DC / 7 / 35% / Closed
Do you think something like that is doable?
Do you think we could do better than that?
Do you want Bernie to stay in so we can win him as many delegates as possible, Win or Lose the nomination?
